 So Shadow Strategic is dropping new 75th Ranger laser engraved uppers, for an 11.5 you get a C prefix with 5 numbers. My question is who would the pictured rifles belong to? They are 11.5 URGIs but definitely have a longer sequence of letters and numbers. I’ve been trying to figure out for the longest what they are, I can tell it’s a C - possible V or W - 0 or G - then W and 4 numbers. Anyone have any insight on these? I paid $950 for the RC I picked up a few months ago, with a couple of hundred rounds through it ;p. To be fair, he wasn't actively trying to sell it. The guy posted about wanting a newer can, and was local to me. I messaged to ask if he was serious, offered what it would cost to get the one he wanted, and boom. Deal struck. |

What is the most desirable version of the Mk16 10.5" DDC for a URGI 11.5" clone? Looking at building one out. I haven't really followed the URGI evolution. I gather the QDs are correct now? Were there any other upgrades that make the non-QD or QD worth getting over the other? I care more about it holding up to abuse. As far as markings, any particular combination that's most desirable (NSN, non-NSN, stamped, etc.)? I've got a line on an early Mk16 without QD or NSN, but I'm not up on it enough to know how that stacks up for clone purposes. |

QD cups being steel are obviously stronger, and unlike the 14.5 guns, the QD cup versions have been seen with USASOC and i believe MARSOC. NSW has not, afaik i know, been photographed with any variant of the 11.5 urgi, and I don't know if the 75th adopted them. |

I'd be building a USASOC version since I need a home for my 2nd RC. So, I guess I should've grabbed the really nice champagne colored Mk16 I half-heartedly tried to buy. It had QD cups, so I sorta hesitated, but then I dug a bit deeper and saw they're GTG. Ah, well. If someone has a nice, light colored Mk16 10.5" DDC they want to part with, let me know. Not a big fan of the dark bronze colors. |

Well, I guess I done done it now; I'm committed, lol. I just picked up a nice champagne-colored Gen 2 Mk16 10.5" from brodband8. I already have a few C-stamped and CAGE-coded Colt uppers to pick between, and a C-stamped BCG. Also, a snazzy light tan anodized KAC 99051 and 300m big knob. Got a spare PRI Gasbuster, but I guess I'm gonna give the proper Geissele ACH a try first. The barrel will be a DD 11.5", of course. Otherwise, I'll likely do an EXPS3-0, TD Stubby, and SF 300c or Somo-clone WMX200. Still haven't decided if I'll do an N1 or SOPMOD on it, but leaning toward an N1. The lower will either be one of my existing stamped Colt M4 Carbines, or one of the spare PSA M4A1 Gov Property lowers I have. I'd already been considering swapping the Colt M4 Carbine lowers for Intlmilco rollmarked on my Block IIs, so maybe this is a perfectly reasonable excuse, lol. It'd free up two stamped Colts -- one for this build, and the other one, who knows! |
