Does anybody here have the protrusion measurement for the barrel indexing pin? I'm having issues with a new build. before I went to install the barrel I threaded the barrel nut on my upper just to make sure there was no obvious issues, well it threaded all the way on nice and smooth. I then went to install the barrel, when I went to install the barrel nut again it stopped after half a half turn or so. when I was looking it over the indexing pin looks like it's protruding halfway up into the first few threads. before I contact the Faxon I just want to make sure it's an issue with the barrel.

The barrel is a faxon?
Who makes your upper receiver?
I'd like to think the upper is out of spec before the barrel pin being out of spec.
I've had two uppers out of spec in my lifetime.
One a daniel defense. the indexing pin was an eighth of an inch off center. And the other a aero precision. The threads were sort of lopsided where it made one side deeper than the other.

I'd like to think that too, that's why I'm asking for the measurement. upper is from Right To Bear Arms and Supply, got it on sale during Memorial day.

That is certainly unusual. The way we pin in the index pin is a hard gauge that only if the pin is below the flange can it move to the next manufacturing step.

Have you tried another barrel nut? Perhaps the major was cut incorrectly?

Does this indexing pin not look too high to you, I measured it at .102'' high.

That would be most strange. Not sure how it made it out of the fixture.

We're happy to bring it back and fix it. Contact our customer service e-mail and mention my name and a link to this thread. Mark will get it moving in a hurry!

Measured from the top of the barrel extension (not the flange), 0.094 inch maximum.

tried that it didn't move, I'm going to send it back. kind of ticked off about this as it seems to have damaged my barrel nut threads some.

Unacceptable - they will fix it. I would ask for a different barrel and extension - who knows what else they missed , QC-wise
