I searched a couple times and it looks like those threads hit the archives.

I finally found my solution today at an automotive swap meet for $10.

There are three scoped AR15s that fit easily in this golf club case.  There is room for one or two more depending on size and how packed, along with some pistol cases. The longest is an 18" AR10, but a full 20" AR has plenty of room.  I actually passed it up and the guy said ten bucks.  Dammit.

My main concern is getting my guns from my house to my truck.   Also, the people that may be high enough to see gun bags in the truck bed, in a particularly identifiable and unique vehicle.

I don't think that anyone is going to break into my house to steal my golf clubs, so i think this is a good idea.  I like soft cases, but carrying more than two to the range can be like wrestling cats.

I always look for guitar cases, but they are never for sale at the swap meets unless there is a guitar in them.

This case stands on end very nicely and has wheels.  Very convenient.  It is made by SKB who also makes gun cases.  My cam potato'd on me that first photo, but you can get the gist of it. It also had a fairly well made reinforced and removable insert for golf clubs, which in itself, is another discreet gun case.  A hell of a score for $10.

Discreet means on the down low, under the radar, careful, but discrete means individual or detached.

In order to complete the deception you'll have to leave your residence and arrivee at the range dressed like this:

I bought a tacky old golf club bag with a full cover for $4 at a resale shop. Throw three or four guns in there and put a cover on. Good to go. Old golf bags can be seen at many resale shops.

I did think it would be fun to throw in a 9 iron and when I get to the firing line pull it out, sight down it a few times, and then look around like I am confused.   Maybe even set up a tee and fire off a shot.

when you leave the house with your "golf bag", are you dressed in 5.11's and tac boots?

My wife grabbed a guitar case on Craigslist for me for $10. Going to get it set up when I have some time, but it could be cool.

I like the guitar case idea.  Kinda like the ole' Tommy Gun in the violin case from the old gangster flicks.

And there is this...
Taylor soft Baby Gig.....

That Taylor gig bag is what I was searching for. I looked long and hard, but didn't find one. I'll probably end up with one.
HOWEVER, it still screams  "Steal Me"!!
A short garment bag with some foam from a workout mat incorporated to cover the outline of the rifle. Moves in and out of hotels and most won't even pay a second look.
I'm waiting for delivery, so we'll see how it works. Less than $20, so no real pain if it doesn't, and I still have a garment bag.

Taylor's are very expensive guitars.  I would not trust their gigbag as a discreet csse.....

I would not use the Taylor case for storage. I don't play golf, but I suspect a golf club case, tool case or just about any other type of case would also scream "steal me" if left unattended. But for transporting a rifle in and around folks who might not "like" you carrying an AR-15 around them, well they would not think twice if they thought you were carrying a guitar. The bag was $30. I would not leave an AR-15 alone in open sight, even if locked inside a car, no matter what case it was stored in. Just MHO.

When I shot archery I picked up a plano hard bow case and the other day, I was looking at it, thinking I wonder how many AR's could I fit in that sucker?

Well I cleaned it up and I can get 4 AR's in it, a 20 in, 2 16 in and my 7.5 in pistol!

Works out good, the last time I heard of a bow actually being taken around here is over 20 years ago, the thieves don't pay attention to them, because nobody will buy them, so makes a nice discreet way to carry 4 guns with no fanfare.

This gives me an idea.

Does anyone know if the FAA rules state that hard cases have to be designed for firearms? or just secure and locking? I might actually be able to find a golf case long enough to fit my shotgun.

I don't know squat about golf. Do they make these sturdy?

Pretty awesome, Bravo!

One thing to keep in mind, if thieves brake into your house, they may grad the golf case to haul stuff they are planning on stealing out of the house.

I picked up an old Wilson baseball bat bag at the Salvation Army store for $5. It's nicely worn and faded.

I use a LaRue case for a broken down PWS Mk116, and might get another for a 16" palmetto build I have.  It's great because it can be had in "non-gun" colors, and isn't MOLLE diseased on the outside, but is incredibly sturdy.

Blackhawk makes a case that looks like a tennis racquet case, and it works well for 16" bbl things with folding stocks, or things with 28" OAL that are not too tall.

UTG has a coffin/tennis racquet looking thing that works well for broken down ARs (up to 20"), or tall but short things like Tavors.

I personally make a study of discreet cases, as I am a long time apartment and condo dweller, and don't want my neighbors to know a damn thing.

I've thought about buying one of those and installing foam. I figure I could get at least 3 and probably 4 AR's in there broken down.

What's stopped me is that I want something discreet that still doesn't scream 'valuable stuff inside', which toolboxes sorta do. (The Golf club bag is a crapshoot, because a lot of people play 10+ year old clubs)

I work at a guitar shop so I grabbed one of our branded "deluxe" gig bags for guitar and it works incredible. Enough storage for two ARs with tie down straps inside. It has three storage compartments on the exterior that hold extra mags, ear pro, ammo, etc. I have a few friends in Chicago Police police and SWAT that use these bags on patrol because they are so discrete.

Just ordered one of these last night: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002TUSDVW?tag=vglnk-c102-20

It's cheap, and it's had a lot of good reviews. Only thing I don't like about it is the way the webbing is oriented in the main compartment of the case, so I'm just going to get another row sewn in and a column sewn in to assist in locking down a handgun.

The thing is, people rolling by your house won't trigger on a guitar case.

SKB makes gun cases.  Their golf case is built tougher than some gun cases on the market. I have traveled enough that if I wanted to take some guns, I know that case would meet the standard.

Pull the pins and you can fit and ar or two in a 40 quart cooler

Or you can fit 8 rifles in a 104quart cooler assembled
