| Where are all of the affordable BCG's that are GTG? I cannot find a decent BCG online. I am looking for something like a Toolcraft around $90-$100. I prefer black nitride. Anyone know of any deals out there? |
| Keep an eye out on WCArmory's site. I just picked up another one of these a few days ago. |

Cryptic Coatings (Toolcraft) in Black Nitrade - http://www.crypticcoatings.com/coated-bolt-carrier-group/ Best coating I've had by far. Only hard chrome is even close. I have the bronze and thus far not even the cam pin shows wear. Wipes right off even around the gas rings. Lifetime warranty on everything. Certainly not cheap however. |

Yup that's always my first spot to look. OOS but $84 for Toolcraft nitride. I've bought two recently from WC armory, a NiB and a .mil 1B16 marked phosphate. Both are top notch. The nitride is 9310 btw. |

I just got a Toolcraft from Monmouth Reloading, they have Nickel Boron and Black Nitride in stock. ($93 for Black Nitride)

No Problem. Shit's going to go fast these days. I picked up one of Aim's NIB bolts a couple weeks ago as a spare just for that reason. |

Try Rubber City Armory, they are top notch and have a Lifetime warranty! Get one with an adjustable gas key and not even have to fool with an adjustable gas block. Came to post this^. The adj gas key has worked great and quality is great. Have one myself on a YHM barrel that's slightly over gassed. |

I got one of their $99 premium bcg/120 round 5.56 and the bolt was marked "F". What are the markings for Toolcraft? Quoted:

PSA Premium BCG's are made by Toolcraft and they run fine, I have several of them. I got one of their $99 premium bcg/120 round 5.56 and the bolt was marked "F". What are the markings for Toolcraft? I'll look at my Toolcrafts again in the morning. Dont recall seeing any "F" on any of the 3 I have. The myth of Toolcraft making PSA bolts had been brought up many times before and had been dispelled by many. |

Should a guy go for nitrided BCG's from here on out? I honestly never really even considered it. Parkerized has worked as a BCG finish for 40 years and still does. Hard chrome was the original BCG finish spec for the AR15 and early M-16. It was spec'd by Eugen Stoner for its properties of lubricity, corrosion resistance and wear resistance. The switch from hard chrome to parkerized came later as a cost cutting measure. Nitride is all that hard chrome is and then some. The only three reasons I can see to go with parkerized instead of Nitride or hard chrome are (1) authenticity for a clone build, (2) tight budget or (3) freebies. |

This deal is hard to beat.

Guess if my phosphate TC's ever fail I may hop on the nitride bandwagon for a ride. Best you can buy IMHO! |

I have no experience with a higher end BCG, just PSA premium, Toolcraft, standard Colt 6920 issue, and a couple of even cheaper 9310 nitrides bought as backups.
Probably a well discussed issue, but can someone inform me about what makes a $189-$250 BCG almost twice as good as a $100 BCG? I realize the standard answers are likely much better QC, lubricity preferences, and customer service/warranty. |

The simple answer is that all the parts of the BCG are of higher quality as well as all your above statements. You can have a great carrier but a lackluster bolt and gas key, or a good carrier w/ lackluster gas key and decent bolt. But you just can't get a great carrier with proper staked great gas key and a great bolt assembly all perfectly multi step premium finished, and a Lifetime Warranty for $100. Just my opinion. Try to buy the premium parts separate and see how fast they add up. FYI, Noveske uses the RCA BCG. |
