[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Colt AR15A4 availability? (Page 1 of 2)
Posted: 10/16/2016 6:37:29 PM EDT
| I have $2500 to spend and want to pick up two Colt ARs, a rifle and a carbine. I can't find an AR15A4 in stock anywhere except GB but they are going for $1500+ when retail is $1099 according to Colts website. Anyone know where I can get an A4 for retail? For a carbine I was wanting an LE6940. Where can I get an LE6940 for retail which is $1399 according to Colt's site? I've been seeing 6940s going for $1799 on GB.. that's just crazy! Where can I get my Colt fix? |
|
Does it have to be a Colt? BCM also offers a 20" rifle and are more available than Colt. The issue with the Colt is they do limited runs and once the run is over, it's usually quite a while before another run of rifles rolls out. Don't pay GunBroker prices, that's insane and a ripoff! Deleted by moderator. This dealer/vendor has been banned here and links to this vendor/dealer are not allowed on this site. LE6940 @ $1,204 AR15A4 @ $1,125 BCM A4 20" Rifle @$1,235 |

The le6940 is discontinued, the ar15a4 hasn't been available in a year, youre not going to find one for msrp prices especially right now. I have no idea when te 6940 was last seen. Probably quite a while ago. But the AR15a4 was available earlier this year. A fairly small number (it seemed that way anyways) popped up around February. I bought a couple of them. One off a place called Hyatt Gun Shop it was roughly $980 with shipping. And I got one off GB for a few hundred more. Doing a quick search online. I see only a couple for sale, both on GB. One used from some seller and it's at $1250 (reserve not met) and from "Sportsmans Supply) sitting at $355, no reserve and 4+ days to go. Who knows what it will end at. |
|
I've had one (AR15A4) on backorder from GT distributors for some time now. Who knows when I'll see it. I should have jumped on one earlier this year from the place we aren't allowed to talk about. At this point, I'm looking at other alternatives for my 20" rifle fix.
|
|
I also saw the ones on gunbroker. I talked to the guy from sportsman's supply and he said they received a few of them directly from Colt within the last 3 months. So guess that means Colt is still making them. It would be great if I can find one near retail!

Pretty sure that I just saw a couple for sale in the EE, this morning. But yes, they are outstanding. Might be a good way for the OP to save some money. Yep, an Anderson lower. I installed some anti-rotation pins that evening. Not sure if I'll bother with another Anderson. Quoted:

Are you sure that the hammer spring legs were on top of the trigger pin? Or was it just a case of out of spec hammer/trigger pin holes? |

Because of FN's use of non 7075 mystery buffer tubes perhaps? Quoted:

Ya it has to be a Colt lol. Why not the FN Military Collector Series A4 and M4? Because of FN's use of non 7075 mystery buffer tubes perhaps? Where is it that it says that they are not using 7075-T6 aluminum for their receiver extensions on the Military Collector Series ARs? |
|
I bit bit nails and lost hair trying to find a Colt AR-15A4 when they first came out. It took two years, but I finally did snag one. It wouldn't shoot for shit no matter what I fed it. I almost cried, but alas, I found a BCM 20" upper decked out in USMC style here on the EE that shoots sa-weeeet! So, all's well that ends well.
Of course, it could have just been that 1 out of 1,000 that has accuracy issues...and as always, YMMV. |

There is no information one way or the other so FN buffer tubes might be made from recycled pop cans for all we know. |

This is what is wrong with so much that gets posted these days. People making statements with no factual basis. |

People are suggesting that the FN rifles are an equal alternative to the Colt rifles but no one has a clue what FN buffer tubes are made out of... How is that not just as wrong? Here is a quote from forum member AMMOTECH in regards to FN's buffer tubes specs. > "Yes I'm a weapons assembler at FN but I do not have access to that info." FN's employees don't even know. |

No current leads, as I still look for another from time to time. Like others have said they were available within the last year, I know because I found one and there were 6 others available when I added it to the cart. I think this was the second run of them. I waited to long to get one of the first batch when I was seeing them for around $850 then searched forever to find one. I still got that one for under 9 and should have got 2 of them at the time.
I would have been ok with a FN but I couldn't get past the markings on the lower and then add in it was a few hundred more than the Colt. |
|
I saw quite a few of the magpul editions(and passed) when I was looking, thought they were ugly as sin compared to the black ones with the carry handle. I did consider more than once to just get one and get the standard furniture, cost wise it didn't make sense for me.
I will say if you want one and they do start to ship again you better jump on it when you see one for sale because it won't be there long. |
| That might have been me. I called Colt a few days ago and they finished and shipped a batch of 200 out to distributors. A few have already made it on GB but they are asking anywhere from $1300-$1750. Haven't seen any in stock at any of the big online store though so I'm not sure where they are. I also have word from the Colt rep they will be doing another batch in January... any idea how I could get in on one of those? |

Not great either, but when you consider it has a Knights RAS and MaTech BUIS that would cost you about $450 if bought new (and not stolen Gov't property),its not as bad. |

You could do that, and they'll ship it when they get it. I have one back ordered through them right now. |

Just throwing it out there. There may be other places that have them at the moment for cheaper. But Hinterland Outfitters has them in stock at the moment. Got a email alert from them earlier today.
