[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Best Budget Trigger (Page 1 of 2)

| Hey guys. I want to order a budget trigger for an SPR type rifle. I have two I have been looking at with the Labor Day deals. I could use some opinions and feedback on these two triggers. The Rise Armament RA-140 and the POF Drop-in 4.5. Both are single stage triggers and are a little over $100. Any info and recommendations would be appreciated on these two. Thanks |

I've read good things about those triggers but have no experience with them. You mentioned one was a little over $100. If you are willing to spend that much, you should seriously consider buying a LaRue MBT-2S for $125 in my opinion. I did forget to mention, I would much prefer a single stage. I have heard some good reviews on the LaRue though... |

I saw SPR and had 2-stage on the brain. |

The JP trigger is about the best single stage trigger out there, and won't kill your budget.

| I have a PSA EPT, ALG QMS, and a LaRue MBT. The MBT was definitely worth every penny and I would replace the rest of my triggers with MBTs is the funds allowed. In the meantime, I have ordered JP springs for the other triggers. If you're willing to spend around 100 or so for a trigger, get an MBT. |

I appreciate the recommendations guys. Is there any advantage to a self contained trigger vs mil-spec designs? I just installed an ALG last night, and have installed several Geissele's. It's not that hard, especially if you follow one of Bill Geissele's videos. Actually the hardest part for me last night was that the outgoing factory trigger wouldn't come out without pulling the safety, and the factory grip screw had an Allen socket head & I couldn't find a long enough Allen wrench so I had to "improvise". Actually removing the factory trigger parts and installing the ALG parts was cake. |

It's very hard to beat an ALG ACT for those on a budget. It is actually quite easy. I found that trigger to be unimpressive for the money it costs. I'd much rather pick up a RRA 2-stage for $100 (or $85 when they go on sale) But with the LaRue MBT's at $125 that's a no brainer to me. |

It's very hard to beat an ALG ACT for those on a budget. This or the BCM PNT. You'll be hard pressed to tell the difference between them without looking at the markings. At $60-70, they're a steal. If the MBT's are $125, though, that's a great deal for a 2-stage. You're not going to get it immediately at that price, though. Personally, I don't like the MBT for non-precision work because of the reset. But if your main concern is landing that first shot, they're amazing. |

At that price BUY !!! Great trigger for the money Night and Day over USGI. |

It's amazing how you asked for single stage recommendations but so many keep offering 2 stage options.
Out of the options you listed, I would go with the RIse. You can get it from AIM for $100 shipped. I have never used one but I have read a lot of good reviews on them. I really like my 4lb Velocity for a single stage but it's around $135 shipped. If you want a lighter trigger, you will have to go with something like the Rise, Velocity. CMC and a few others. If you want a typical mil spec type weight, the ALG ACT is a good option or the much cheaper and nearly identical PSA enhanced trigger ($30 plus shipping) is a great option. I have both the ACT and PSA and they are exactly the same feel. |

Hiperfire EDT for $85, user-selectable 4.5 or 5.5lb trigger by changing hammer springs (very strong primer strike, btw): http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Hiperfire_AR15_Hipertouch_EDT_Enhanced_Duty_Trigge_p/hf-edt.htm
All my AR's now have EDT's, and everyone who's tried one of mine has wanted one for themselves (I've now installed 9 EDT's for family/friends). Tomac |
