Hey guys. I want to order a budget trigger for an SPR type rifle. I have two I have been looking at with the Labor Day deals. I could use some opinions and feedback on these two triggers. The Rise Armament RA-140 and the POF Drop-in 4.5. Both are single stage triggers and are a little over $100. Any info and recommendations would be appreciated on these two. Thanks

I've read good things about those triggers but have no experience with them.

You mentioned one was a little over $100.

If you are willing to spend that much, you should seriously consider buying a LaRue MBT-2S for $125 in my opinion.

I did forget to mention, I would much prefer a single stage. I have heard some good reviews on the LaRue though...

Dang....I didn't pay enough attention.  I should have caught that when I looked at your selected options.

I saw SPR and had 2-stage on the brain.

I have both the ALG ACT & the Rise RA-140 SST.

ACT is a great mil spec trigger, SST is much lighter with a shorter reset. AIM has the SST for $99 shipped right now, mine needed anti walk pins in an Anderson lower.

The JP trigger is about the best single stage trigger out there, and won't kill your budget.

Probably the Larue MBT with lighter strong installed.  125.00

Edit:  You want single stage.  Why so staunch on that requirement?

I have a PSA EPT, ALG QMS, and a LaRue MBT. The MBT was definitely worth every penny and I would replace the rest of my triggers with MBTs is the funds allowed. In the meantime, I have ordered JP springs for the other triggers. If you're willing to spend around 100 or so for a trigger, get an MBT.

Other.

The larue trigger is $125, you can find CMC single stage triggers on sale here and there for around $140, and I just paid $170 for a Geissele SD-C on sale.

I appreciate the recommendations guys. Is there any advantage to a self contained trigger vs mil-spec designs?

You don't have to dick around with spring tension when mounting the hammer/hammer pin because of the self containment.

CMC triggers come with four small Torx head screws that go into each end of the pins to prevent "walking".

The Mega trigger is an adjustable single stage trigger that can be purchased for $60 for just the trigger. You will have to repurpose the hammer and disco/disco spring

I have 3 Rise RA-140 triggers, each one was $99. Fantastic for the money.

The Velocity triggers are great too, and I've gotten them on sale for just over $100 shipped.

It's hard to beat the performance at that price.

Came to post this. I have 2 and one is in a gun that has 1000's of rounds through it. I like it enough I put one in my last build and will buy another next time I want a decent trigger.

I just installed an ALG last night, and have installed several Geissele's.  It's not that hard, especially if you follow one of Bill Geissele's videos.  Actually the hardest part for me last night was that the outgoing factory trigger wouldn't come out without pulling the safety, and the factory grip screw had an Allen socket head & I couldn't find a long enough Allen wrench so I had to "improvise".  Actually removing the factory trigger parts and installing the ALG parts was cake.

I'm currently using two of these and two of the Right to Bear versions.  Can't tell them apart except for the price tag.  Both are just right, at least for me!

It is actually quite easy.  I found that trigger to be unimpressive for the money it costs.

I'd much rather pick up a RRA 2-stage for $100 (or $85 when they go on sale)

But with the LaRue MBT's at $125 that's a no brainer to me.

This or the BCM PNT.   You'll be hard pressed to tell the difference between them without looking at the markings.

At $60-70, they're a steal.

If the MBT's are $125, though, that's a great deal for a 2-stage.   You're not going to get it immediately at that price, though.    Personally, I don't like the MBT for non-precision work because of the reset.   But if your main concern is landing that first shot, they're amazing.

I have an ALG ACT... unless you can get it for under $50, I would say get a G2S. Not that the ALGs are bad, but at $69 MSRP, I would just jump to the G2S. DPMS has a sale on the G2S - $110.

It's amazing how you asked for single stage recommendations but so many keep offering 2 stage options.

Out of the options you listed, I would go with the RIse.  You can get it from AIM for $100 shipped.  I have never used one but I have read a lot of good reviews on them.  I really like my 4lb Velocity for a single stage but it's around $135 shipped.  If you want a lighter trigger, you will have to go with something like the Rise, Velocity. CMC and a few others.  If you want a typical mil spec type weight, the ALG ACT is a good option or the much cheaper and nearly identical PSA enhanced trigger ($30 plus shipping) is a great option.  I have both the ACT and PSA and they are exactly the same feel.

I had bad luck with a few RRAs. super happy with my velocity. Feels just as good as my timney but lighter and only $110. Wouldn't hesitate to buy more before Mossberg's lame little lawsuit puts all the drop-ins out of business. (Is that still going on?)

Hiperfire EDT for $85, user-selectable 4.5 or 5.5lb trigger by changing hammer springs (very strong primer strike, btw): http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Hiperfire_AR15_Hipertouch_EDT_Enhanced_Duty_Trigge_p/hf-edt.htm
All my AR's now have EDT's, and everyone who's tried one of mine has wanted one for themselves (I've now installed 9 EDT's for family/friends).
