Going to be my first ar which one should i get? Looking at either the entry level anderson from sportsmanguide or a DPMS oracle

Neither.

Look at a Delton

these are MSRP prices, your local dealer should be cheaper. http://www.del-ton.com/carbine_rifles_s/2.htm

I'd go with neither and buy a PSA lower and a BCM upper.

Get what you can afford plus mags and ammo. Dont buy a rifle from SG, there are cheaper options.

What are some other good places? So far they have been the cheapest place i have seen.

S&W M&P Sport II or Delton

If Anderson and DPMS are your choices, either one will be fine.

You can buy a LMT SOPMOD lower and put any upper you want on it.

You can buy a Colt 6920 OEM1 and put any stock and hand guard you want on it.

Why are you considering an Anderson for your first rifle? Most people seem to be happy with them, but they are the cheapest product on the market. With the coming election cycle I think quality is more important than economy. I suggest you buy the best rifle you can and worry about the cost later.

If she is successful in banning the production of any new AR-15's, would you rather have an Anderson or a Colt/LMT?

I have both and for almost all purposes, they both run just fine.

This isn't a bad price for the Oracle. Plus ffl. http://grabagun.com/dpms-panther-oracle-223-16-30rd.html

PSA lower and upper or SW M&P sport 2. My first rifle was a sport 1 and it shot like a champ.
An Anderson build isn't bad either, you can probably do a build for 500-600.

As I am too old to parachute into the desert and fight the bad guys I use mine for range and varmint hunting. Went with DPMS. Been shooting it steadily for over 3 years without a single problem. Either choice will be fine. Enjoy!

Spikes, Areo, BCM, RRA, Colt have some reasonable prices.

Aero Precision has the best deal right now for a budget AR15... I hate saying "entry level" because more and more of these so-called "entry level" AR15s coming out lately are actually quite good compared to "entry level" a while back.

I'd feel more comfortable with a DPMS but if only given the choice of an Anderson, I'd be fine.  You could also buy a PSA lower and PSA Freedom upper for cheap, if you can handle their wait times.

Honestly, after Robski got done beating the shit out of that Radical Firearms AR, I've become convinced that if a guy bought one of those, upgraded the BCG and FCG, you'd have a pretty good first AR.

This. I chose DPMS out of your choices as it was also my first AR. While it's considered "lower tier" I never had any issues from mine. Not malfunctions, breakages or anything else.

That being said, nowadays you're limiting yourself to only those 2 as there are many better ARs (like those listed above) for similar pricing. It's salad days my friend.

I have never had an "Anderson rifle" per say, but I have used quite a bit of their parts and I like them.

One thing between the two is the Oracle only has a 1:9 twist unlined barrel.  I think the comparable Anderson is 1:7CL.

My first firearm purchase was a stripped DPMS lower; I only got the lower and built it up with other parts.  Still using it 10+ years later.  It's not the best lower but it's OK.

What's your budget and you might get more helpful answers?

He already bought an SKS. that's not on the poll either.

If you don't like logos, then pick up an 80% and finish it, nice and clean with no logo at all.
