| Is there an advantage to using flat wire springs? Also, are the chrome silicon springs really supreior? |

I use Tubb flatwire CS springs in my AR's. They are about 20% heavier than a mil-spec spring, I use them with H2 buffers in a couple 16 inch midlengths and a couple 20 inch rifles with std buffers. I believe that the CS material is a superior spring steel, supposed to be good for at least 500K cycles. Other companies make standard weight round wire CS springs, Wolff, Sprinco, Damage Industries. Damage runs their CS carbine and rifle springs on sale for $6 quite often. I have used Damage springs before and they are GTG. Both Tubb and Damage springs are coated so corrosion should never be a problem. CS springs are an excellent upgrade IMO, change it and never think about it again.
UPDATE: Damage Industries has their carbine CS springs on sale now for $6. Also their website says springs should be good for 750K cycles! |
