| Ok so I've decided on an 18" barrel and now would like opinions on a maker. So the two I've decided to choose from are Green Mountain, or Ballistics Advantage. Both are 18" 1/8 twist 416r Wylde, the Green Mountain is rifle gas, and the Ballistis Advantage is mid length gas. All else being equal just looking for real world opinions or hearsay from those who know someone with either or. Thanks |

I'd lean towards GM as they are a favorite of mine. I have a few of their bbls and feel the money spent was worth it. Another option is FAXON for barrels. Their 20" 1:8 i have is a good performer. After you decide on a barrel. What will you be running in that bbl, Factory or hand loads? Tailoring a load to the barrel really enables one to get at much performance / accuracy from it as possible. Of course you could have asked the question in this thread. Saving you time bouncing back & forth to see what answer sounds the best. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_118/687296_Barrel_length_gas_system.html |

Both of those are very good choices, but I would not take them over my ARP 18" SPR...4150 CMV, Melonite, 1:8, 5R, .223 Wylde.

I've never seen an ARP 14.5", but I'm still new to building. Did you get it directly from them or are there other distributors that carry the 14.5"? |

Purchased it directly from them about 18 months ago. I don't see it now on their website. |
