| Are Colt Barrels CHF or button rifled? |

Next question, does it matter? IMO the accuracy of colt barrels in general(usually the most accurate chrome lined brls in my experience) makes up for any slight longevity a chf barrel "might" provide. (no scientific proof of this exist to my knowledge) |

Well if your going to disagree at least tell us what rack grade chrome lined brl beats them by a long shot. |
| He didn't say any beats the Colts by a long shot, just that he doubts Colts are the most accurate. And I would have to agree, they seem like good shooters on average but most AR barrels are good shooters. I would put a Green Mountain up against a Colt and if I had to place a bet put it towards the GM. Not saying it would win, but that is where my money would go. |

I am not going to say better worse or the same not all barrels are created equal and accuracy has much more to do with the shooter and ammo quality than anything (considering quality barrels). Any quality barrel and the right shooter mod paired with good ammo will make for an accurate barrel. |
On average with what all I own / or shot with group size intended Colt shot over all a little better. Not enough to make a difference in a defense rifle. Only in a piece of paper bragging rights .. This is my own experience with what I've owned and shot . DD,BC, RRA, CMMG , Bushmaster , And maybe a few others. Nothing scientific ... Barrel may had nothing to do with it on the days I shot these rifles. Maybe I was chilly or had to take a explosive crap.... hemorrhoid flare up ???? Wardawg

Anderson Mfg made some of their barrels. Yeah,,, and,,,, Anderson makes Colt's lowers from what I read. They just tap the grip screw deeper on the Colt lowers............ BTW,, I have read over the years that the Rock Creek barrels on LMTs are very accurate also. |

I do think the socom barrels are accurate however GM is an outstanding barrel but most of the major manufacturers are gtg and all within acceptable accuracy for production rack grade barrels. I will say this, I have an alpha sports barrel I bought cheap for a beater and it beats all my DD, BCM, Colt, and GM barreled uppers. I think I got a fluke but very good shooter |

Note the part in red. I'm far from a colt cult member but what i wrote is my experience. I've got to go load up some fnpsa / bcm frankenguns and ammo were going shooting

CHF isn't any better or worse... it's just another way of making barrels. The materials and the QC and tolerances the mfg. holds itself to are much more important than any distinction between button and CHF.
I have CHF barrels from FN, I have button rifled barrels from BCM and FN... I wouldn't pay any more for any of them. They all do their job equally well. |

6945 (10.3") barrels are apparently CHF.

Totally understand that is why I refrain from getting the butt hurt flowing. I imagine why you think your Colt barrel is the bees knees is because you have found a ammo that it likes and have a good shooter mod. |
