So I'm going to install my AAC brake and it says to use 3-4 drops of rocksett on the threads of the muzzle and 3-4 on the threads of the brake. Problem is the consistency of the stuff is about like hot glue, it doesn't come out of the packet at all and all i can get is "glops" of it.
I'm guessing the package broke air tightness? Is it normally a consistency like loctite ? thanks |

It's hit or miss. I've received some of the smaller surefire packs that remained in a more viscous liquid form. Any I received with AAC packaging were in the thick almost "gel" that doesn't work. As soon as the muzzle device hits it, it turns into garbage that just clumps up and turns into balls.
I've heard it could be related to temperature it's stored in, but I've attempted to keep some warm and cold, and there's no difference in my experience. It's a pain in the ass to be honest. I've resorted to ordering the large bottles as the small single use packets suck. I'm worried it'll change forms in the larger container as well. |

The consistency of mine in my big official rocksett industrial size bottle is somewhere between........grenadine and really shitty light maple syrup. Liquidy, but tacky if that makes sense.
It should spread slightly on the threads when you apply a drop, but it certainly won't spread out like loctite 242. I usually put 4 very small dabs on the 90 degree corners toward the front of the muzzle, and then a few dabs further back. Gets the threads coated pretty much all the way through so that they are covered and won't allow moisture in later on which can cause corrosion. Obviously the globs spread as you thread on the muzzle. I've never put any on the inside of the brake itself (on the threads of course). I've found I have about 3-5 minutes max to get my shit lined up after that before it gets gummy and then I start over by cleaning it up and re-applying, but then again, I also mount my muzzle brakes using levels to ensure they are dead nuts square. |

Had a 2-3 oz size bottle of the stuff for 4 years, and its still the same consistency. Stored it in all types of locations/conditions/temps. The surefire bottles I've had have worked great, but seem to dry out and clump up after 4 months of being open. The larger bottles....good to go. |

Mine thickened up and looks like it started to plasticize or whatever on the bottom. IIRC, Rocksett has ~1 year shelf life. |
