Basically everyone who has a rail on their AR uses a front foregrip. My go to ar is my ddm4v5 and I currently use the foregrip that came with it. You know the long dd model. I generally grip it kind of angled and rarely use the whole grip. What is your go-to foregrip and why?I'm shopping for a new one and need some advice on what to get. Also I want something I can remove easily for bench shooting with my lead sled or any other reason.

If you're looking for a shorter VFG, take a look at the TangoDown stubby.  Since you're looking for "quick removal" I'd suggest the QD model.  Personally, I've ditched all my VFG's, I just seem to like um better without.

a lot of people have gone to angled grips or no grip at all, On my Recce style i have an MVG just for something extra to hold onto because of the bipod. on my other general purpose AR I just have a hand stop

I really like that grip but $90?! Damn they are proud of that.

I tried the sans VFG mount and it doesn't work for me. I've tried a hand stop, long VFG, Gear Sector butt plug looking thing (as a VFG to be clear), and I keep coming back to the QD Tango Down Stubby with my fingers split in a sense between the rail and the TD Stubby,i.e. not a broomstick hold and not with the back of my hand against it, more like one finger on the rail, one at the rail VFG interface, a couple on the TD.

ETA: try the EE for some savings

I have a BCM short mod 3-Keymod VFG on my 14.5 and I use it mostly more like a handstop - I rest the heel of my hand againt it. (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCMGUNFIGHTER-Vertical-Grip-Mod-3-KeyMod-Black-p/bcm-vg-km-mod-3-blk.htm). The BCM grips are light and easily removable. The picatinny and mod 3-Keymod grips require a torx bit to loose the mount screw. The regular Keymod versions are tool-less, however the grip length is rather short and one wouldn't engage with my KAC URX 4; I think they're designed to work with the KMR rails which are kinda thin. I also have a picatinny one that I ordered but never used.

KAC VFG because it feels the best to me.

I like the TD stubby grips. I put my hand in an angled fashion when I shoot.

I use the space to store my batteries for my light. The actual pistol grip is used to store my form 1s.

Only reason I haven't moved away from a forgrip

If you really want a shorter forward grip and don't want to spend any money, just chop the one you have.

Alternatively, Magpul's RVG is fairly short, and is also very cheap, so I'm never worried about cutting one down.

My Keymod rifles just have grippy rail covers but my quad rifle has a Magpul vert grip.  I don't have any QD grips as I don't see the need to quickly remove one.

RVG as a handstop.

never broom handle it.

tried dedicated hand stops but they are not as comfortable to me as the VFG is (as a handstop)

I like the GG@G shorty. It's not QD, but it comes off easy and the price is right.

Another vote for the BCM short grip.  Mine is the rail model.  Cant stand the angled for grips at all...

I like Magpuls AFG2 for rifles with long handguards. On a shorter handguard I like the Larue FUG. It has Larues QD lever and comes with 3 different length/shape bottom caps so you can can have it stubby, standard length or with a flared out bottom. It has flat sides to attach a tape switch for a light/laser as well. If that weren't enough, it's a very good looking, quality VFG. It's not cheap but IMO worth it...

B5 grip stop works as a grip stop and a hand stop.

Funny I seen this thread, I was just thinking of ditching my magpul vfg on my rifle. I use it as a handstop but when I do bench shooting it gets in the way. I may go with AFG or Handstop idk yet I need to play around with a few different options.
