What's everyone think of DSG quality for rifles?  I've been very happy with their accessories but haven't had any experience with their firearms:

Just need a lower and trigger so not a bad deal.

Also found a rifle kit on PSA's website that includes a trigger and nickel BCG for only $100 more. Thoughts?

Given the two, I'd take the DSG and drop an ALG trigger in it.

Yes I was thinking of getting the ACT.

I didn't get the kit but I bought the same upper in 300 blk last year and I've been very happy with it.

I like the PSA over the DSG for the reasons I gave you earlier in my e-mail.

PSA hands down, better specs IMO. FN makes the CHF barrel it comes with.

That's a great deal on the DSG.

The DSG rifle has a "Chrome Moly Steel" barrel.  If I just use my rifles for plinking, will corrosion be a problem?

No, it's a nitrided barrel so corrosion shouldn't be an issue.

DSG indicates theirs is finished in Black Nitride (Melonite) on both the barrel and BCG. Should be damn near indestructible. I have the 16" 300BLK version and it's nice. I get ~1MOA at 100 yards using Remington's Hog Hammer rounds. Runs Fiocchi cheap loads just fine as well. I'm haven't messed with the gas or thrown a can on it yet but the rifle is more than sufficient for what I built the rifle to do.

I'm likely going to pick up one of the 16" 5.56 uppers soon. If that one is ~1MOA at 200, it's light enough to be a super cheap 3-Gun option for my backup gun. If it doesn't group well, I'll just throw a red dot on it and relegate it to bay style 3-Gun competitions inside of 100 yards.

Another HUGE advantage DSG has over others for me is DSG's customer service has been top notch. My upper was a Black Friday sale one that they sold thousands when they expected to sell hundreds. It was backordered but DSG still honored the sale price. When I got the shipping notice I called up because I was on travel near Dallas to see if I could pick it up in store. The guy on the phone literally said he would call me right back and ran to try to catch the truck before the package left. Everything else I have picked up ships fast. Can't wait until I move up to Ft. Worth, I'll be able to pick up in store

For the price range, the DSG kit is a great value.  Good bang for the buck.

I'm leaning this way.

Turns out soon was today, I just couldn't not have BOTH . 16" 5.56 is inbound to hang out with my 16" 300BLK. Now the hard part begins, waiting until I can sight it in and test out some loads!

I put a rifle together using that upper (.223/5.56) from DSG.  No complaints at all with the quality or function.

What about the barrel? A lot of people don't like the chrome moly.

By Chrome Moly do you mean 4150CrMov? I ask because a barrel made of 4150CrMov can be Chrome Lined or Salt Bath Nitro Carburized.  It all comes down to the way they do the rifling and finish the barrel. Some people don't like Chrome Lined because it can be less accurate but that has little to do with the steel.

Not entirely sure.  The few people I've talked to about that DSG kit, they all had concerns about that barrel being the weak point.
