I just wanted to inform everyone of fake PWS FSC-556's being sold. A buddy of mine purchased a brake at a gun show and thought it was a PWS brake. It looks almost identical but did not look exactly like an FSC. I spoke with PWS about it and they asked if he would be willing to send it to them. Here is the response he got.
"Thank You for submitting this rather blatant FSC556 copy to us for analysis. We have found that this item is produced from a extremely low hardness steel alloy that registers 10 Rockwell. This device should not be used in any such application that sees high pressure, such as a muzzle device. The FSC556 that we produce is heat treated to a Rc hardness over 50...so we are not talking about a small difference in hardness here. It would be safe for an airsoft gun though. We will send you a replacement Primary Weapons Systems FSC556 to say thank you for bringing our attention to this fraudulently produced item. Sincerely Stacey Nagy." Just wanted to let everyone know to make sure you know what your buying. I will post pics of the brake when I can. |

Honestly, every gun show I've been to in the last two years has been absolute joke. There are very few good deals to be had and a large percentage of private sellers are there to scam the newbs. I've seen guys asking 2,3 and even 4 times what their items are worth.
In most cases, the best you can hope for at a gun show is a fair RETAIL price. To me its not worth navigating through the BS counterfeits and scammers to maybe find a fair retail price. I heard about one vender selling pretty convincing Aimpoint clones out of the same display case as legit Aimpoints. It would have taken a trained eye to identify the fakes. I am done with gun shows. To many predatory people there looking to jack an honest man for his dough. I'll stick with reputable online dealers and my local dealer thank you very much. Aaron |

Hi,
Unfortunately I think we'll see more of this in the future with a growing number of CNC machine centers coming available. I've seen some of these knock offs and some are very close to the PWS break. I like the PWS brakes and have a few on my 30 caliber rifles. Stacey Nagy is a good guy to talk to. Best Regards: |

What made him suspicious it was a fake? I have a PWS YHM mount that is missing the logo, but came i the PWS package complete with shim kit. The lack of logo has been bothering me. I wouldn't worry about that being fake. Those are popular enough to fake imo. |
