I understand the Pin>Clamp>Set Screw but my question is Brand and Quality i.e. "Best Bang for the Buck"? so help me out.

for use under a Troy Alpha 13" carbine length gas system needs to be .750 inside diameter.

I buy only 17-4 stainless. its a good metal for this.
I avoid anything aluminum.
after that it depends on what you need specifically.

0.075 barrel, eh?  Now that's lightweight!

Also, a set screw gas block with a dimpled barrel is preferable to a clamp-on block.

I like the BCM set screw block.

I normally use the YHM 9383 gas block for low profile .750 gas block builds.

On gas blocks...yes, new to AR's...since they are designed to fit a specific size gas tube, I'm guessing the port in the barrel is where the "tune" is accomplished...adjustable gas blocks aside.  So, the gas block of most any design, as long as diameter is addressed, will not alter the gas pressure, as that's dictated by the size of the barrel gas port...right?  So, going to a low profile or other replacement gas block, you really only have to address barrel diameter...like a .750.

I used the 9384 pinch screw YHM on last pistol build. Gas hole is drilled so you but the block up against the shoulder instead of having to off set to account for the end cap( if you are going FF)
