Local department is getting new AR's. Selling the old ones. Not sure of the model. Has a extra upper with it. Very nice shape. Is it worth $450? Going tomorrow to look at the selection.

Older Bushmaster with two uppers? That's a steal at $450.

Yep...
I wouldn't hesitate as long as they haven't been severely abused.

Yes. That said they aren't great guns but for $450 they are well worth it.

Well I went and looked at the bushies. They have 3 of them available. I was getting ready to take one and realized they have 14.5" barrels and I'm assuming being bought through law enforcement sells the flash hider isn't pinned. So I took the liberty to call a local gunsmith to get prices for them to be checked out and pinned if necessary.
Only one has a extra upper. The really nice 1 was a A2 which is what I liked. Then there was a A3 that was pretty nice too.

I'm waiting to hear back from the gunsmith. He works out of his house. He has a regular day job. I'll get the prices and the department will drop off the rifles. Once finished up I will be getting one and my dad I think is going to buy one.

Or you could send the (the uppers) to ADCO. They generally have decent prices and quick turn around. https://www.adcofirearms.com/shopservices/

Make sure your flash hider will bring the barrel to 16".  If those things have A2 flash hiders now, you'll need something else.

Especially so if made before the sale to "Freedom Group".  That company has just about ruined Remington and Marlin with poor quality control.  I think the sale was in 2006, not sure.

Bad news, the department decided to trade in the bushmasters instead of going through the trouble to make them civilian legal. I'm very disappointed folks.
