We all know you can get a hinge that goes btwn the lower receiver & the receiver extension.  An extension fits in the rear of the BCG, and the rifle can only be fired once w/ the stock open, which may damage the receiver.

I presume you're familiar w/ the Kel-Tec SUB 2000, which like its predecessor, folds the 16" bbl over the top of the action.

Is it possible to make an AR upper receiver that allows the barrel to fold alongside the upper receiver?  Given the length of the gas tube, it might have to be a piston setup, or you may be able to have enough of a cutout for the tube to clear the upper.  Unlike the SUB 2000, it would not be possible to fold the bbl w/ the action closed, as the bolt would lock the bbl in place, except in the case of blowback pistol ARs.

Folding barrel sounds like a lock-up/battery issue.

Have you seen Para's defunct odd ball?

Not being able to fire it folded is not that big a deal.

Law Tactical. They don't have any right now as they are coming out with a new version of it. I'm waiting for it to come out so I can snag one to throw on my Serbu lower to mate with my Serbu SU-15 upper when it gets here.

Nice set-up! When firing it how is the lock up on the hinged receiver extension adapter? Does it spurt lube, heat, or anything under rapid firing? Obviously it's faster than pinning two halves together but how exactly fast does it lock into place from folded, to locked and ready to fire? I interested because I have a Jeep and would like to mount something lockable but quick deploy on the cross roll bar. Thanks!

It has a tension screw to set how "tight" you want the folding mechanism to be.  I have it set to where the stock doesn't flop around.

I shoot it suppressed all the time and I notice no difference with blowback than any other lower that I run without the adapter.

It's extremely solid.  I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

This was some video I did when I had the UBR installed.

I put together an Olympic OA93 pistol years ago, and while it is fun and runs ok, I'm thinking one of these folders and a Sig brace might be good.

Would work folded or open in that configuration.
