I got an AR on trade without doing my homework. The upper is a VLTOR MUR-1 and the barrel is a CMMG 300BLK. It came with a hundred supersonic rounds, but it's a pistol length gas system. CMMG says not to shoot these bullets thru this barrel 'cause of the gas system length. From what I've read I need a carbine length gas system for the supersonics or it'll over-gas. I have no intention of suppressing it. So I have a few questions...
a) Is shooting supersoninc blackouts in a pistol length system RARELY (like one box every once in a great while) dangerous and/or stupid? b) Should I install a low-profile adjutable gas block, or just replace the barrel, OR just simply buy slow heavy rounds? c) I've built an UMP and an Uzi, can an average Joe with a little garage smithing experience but NO AR15 experience replace the block or barrel himself (aka: no lath or hard to find tools? d) I assue either way I'm pulling my compensator off then back on? Sorry for the newb questions, sorry for the CMMG barrel (hahaha), any thoughts? Thanks... |
