Saved my pennies and put together an economical, lightweight home defense carbine. All told, about $1400 invested. Unloaded, with no accessories or Eotech, it weighs just a tad over 6lbs. Have yet to shoot her, will be doing so when it's not -20F one of these days. Ah, Vermont.

    Spikes Lower
    JSE Upper & Pencil Barrel
    Fortis Low Profile Gas Block
    Magpul Goodies Interspersed Throughout
    Lancer Mags
Handguard - lower railed half is Mako, upper is generic skinny profile. I liked the Mako design, but wanted to go minimalist for this build, and only prefered a bit of rail underneath rather than on either side of the upper half. Some minor fitting was required to get them to play nice together since they were made to slightly different tolerances, but now everything sits tightly and does not move a bit.[/*]

When did you buy all your stuff? I'm thinking I don't see $1400 there with the stuff you bought. Maybe I'm wrong. Good stick for home defense though

Mostly online, the usual places; CTD, PA, etc.

A good $450 of that was the Eotech, and I paid a little more than I should have for the lower since it was conveniently at a store 5 mins from my house!

Edit: probably overestimated, I bet it was more like $12-1300. Lost track since it took me about 4 months to piece it together.

I'm way south of you and this has really been the first day i've been able to get anywhere to shoot, not that it's been that cold (only teens here) but more that every time i leave my house there is wreck closing the road i live down. Finally got out with my new build today.

OP nice rifle. Glad to see another eotech guy around here!

How much does it weigh with everything on it including a loaded mag? I am guessing almost 8 pounds.

Might be the angles of the photos, but it's definitely 16 inches.

If I were to do a lightweight build (and I am), I probably would choose something lighter than an Eotech. And I like Eotechs, so no bashing here.
