| Ok so I may have made a huge mistake. I have been looking for an AR-15 for a long time purely as something to go to the range and have fun shooting. I had finally started to be able to save for one (wedding, honeymoon, and kids were slowing down the process) and a good deal came out on Bushmaster C15's. So I jumped the gun and bought one. Now I am learning that there is mostly bad reviews out there on them and that they are not as customizable as a standard AR. Does anyone have any history with these weapons and does anyone know if I am just missing something as far as ordering accessories for it. |

Just be careful taking it out of the box. |

My dad bought a Carbon 15 recently, so here is what I have learned.
1. There are two versions. The original did not have a forward advance or a dust cover. The newer version comes with both. 2. 99% of the parts are the same as in a "standard" ar-15 type gun in the NEWER VERSION. The original used some custom parts. The exceptions for the NEWER VERSION is the barrel nut uses a different thread and the take down pin in back closest to the butt stock is longer then the one used for the metal bodies. 3. Someone here or on another forum used a carbon and transferred all the parts to a metal body upper/lowers just replacing the the barrel nut and take down pins. If I remember right. 4. A new hand guard/rails can be mounted to the carbon if it does not require replacing the barrel nut. There are some out there, just don't have names or links right now to give. 5. All the same magazines will work. 6. Some people have had them broken. If you do a Google search you will find some pics. For wear, I could not answer right now. In ours I have only shot 60 shots total while sighting in the included red dot scope ours came with. That is a mix of 40 .223 American Eagle and 20 5.56 Federal, running 10 at a time then a full 20 in the clip. Here in the next couple of days, I hope to go the the range to send more lead down. |
| Paid $630 for it with the red dot that Bushmaster supplies in the box. I am a little happier with it as the front rail and fore grip I ordered off Amazon fits. Being new to AR's I didn't really know how to put on the different rail but i got it figured out. I have run no rounds through it yet but I really want to unfortunately southern Indiana is about 19 degrees right now. |
| Also if you didn't know Bushmaster has promotion going on for 4 free mags and a cleaning kit. Go to www.bushmaster.com/promotions. It's good till the end of the year. Or check your local Academy if one is near for the paper. The gun range I go to had the papers screwed into a post near where you walk into the covered range. |

"20 in the clip"??? I'm sure you meant, "20 in the mag." |

Dangit, and just after explaining to my dad the difference between a clip and mag.
