Hello everyone, I didn't see a intro section so here it is. I'm just a country boy who loves to shoot. I plan on purchasing my first AR and was looking for a little advice on which brand(oh No!) would suffice for me. I read the "so you want to buy a AR" topic and loved all the info in there. I know every brand has duds but from what I read Colt is pretty reliable as is RRA. I have looked at several including Colt, DPMS,Winhdam(lifetime warranty), Diamond Back, and Sig. I don't plan on adding anything for show, and is there a downside to purchasing a AR from a Walmart? Thanks for any info. -Arthur-

Welcome to the Forums. I am also new here and have had great experiences with my Stag Arms AR. Being from CT and with the new local laws and gun grabbing going on after Newtown, I had to buy local and support a local business. I bought my rifle in december of last year.
Stag, Colt, CMMG, DPMS, PSA, S&W, Spikes, and Armalite seem to be the popular guns if buying a complete rifle.

Wallmart gets all the rejected guns from manufactures, haven't you heard that yet?
Some dumb people really believe that.
Can't see a problem buying from Wally world. Personally I'd get the Colt 6920. A weapon with the Pony on it will always sell, where others might not. Everyone isn't a "Gun Nut! Like some here.

Thanks for the reply, I think the Colt will do me just fine. I'm working up in North Dakota right now and Scheels(kinda like Academy) has several brands to choose from but walmart has the lower price. I am waiting to get a price quote from a dealer back home.
