Hey folks. Lifelong hunter here but totally clueless in the world of AR's. I'm hoping to purchase my first soon. The choices in my local stores are DPMS, S&W M&P,Sig Sauer and Bushmaster. Basically, I am looking for input from you vets. I am not into the whole prepper thing. I just want a nice shooting rifle that I can put good glass on and predator hunt and target shoot with. I have no idea what I am looking for in regards to quality, reliability, and brand, but I want something that'll allow me to reach out and touch them at 200-400 yards. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

The DPMS flat top with the bull barrel and a good set of optics is pretty cheap and accurate. Seems like you would be happy with that.

In order how I would pick between those.

S&W: My S&W has a great factory trigger is and is very accurate.
Bushmaster pre Remington
SIG
Bushmaster (newer Remington owned) or DPMS

However, I don't think you can go wrong with either. I would research the SIG. I am not sure if the SIG ARs are exactly the same as milspec ARs.

I'd go with either the S&W or the DPMS.  Either that or go with a stripped lower and build your own to exactly what you want.

I would look at Colt if you can find one. You can go online and have one transferred to an FFL Dealer. I just bought the Colt LE6020MP-R and I love the gun. You cant go wrong with colt and can find them a a good price online new if you shop around enough. DPMS would be my second choice.

Just gonna throw this out there even though it's not one of the options you mentioned. If you want to predator hunt you are gonna want good accuracy and a good trigger. For that purpose the BCM SS410 barrels are hard to beat I would go with a 18 inch with a rifle length gas system, I have one of the 20" variety, I would tell you how accurate it is but you would think I was lying. Put a 4x16 scope on it and a good mount. Here is a link to a upper with the 410 barrel. Link
Get a complete lower for $200 and a BCG. You can upgrade the trigger later. Roughly $1150 without optics.

I think building your first is the way to go.
Doing so takes time, patience, and quite a
bit of research. However, the end result will be
a rifle that meets your criteria and most importantly
you know intimately. Take your time, do your research
and enjoy the process.

I would consider a .308 in your case.  My buddy said the exact same things you said, and ended up buying a Remington in .308, and is happier than a pig in slop.  I don't care for it myself, but my needs and history wasn't the same as his.

Out of the AR's you listed, I would go with the Smith & Wesson. However, being that this is your first AR, I would go with a Colt 6920 over the S&W or a BCM.

I am also new to the AR scene, but have been hunting my entire life. That being said i bought a S&W and love it! I did a little research before buying and found S&W had a pretty good reputation and they were reasonably priced. But..... If I were to do it all over again I would have built one and saved myself some money, my rifle has completely changed since I bought it as I figured out what things i liked and didn't like. There was nothing wrong with the S&W the way I bought it, but once you start buying accessories ..... It's downhill from there. So basically having been in your shoes recently I would do a lot of research and see if anyone you know has a AR you can shoot and check out your options and things u like and dislike and build one, but if that's not a option, after handling and shooting many other brands I'm still happy with my S&W !

Any that you mentioned are going to shoot your stuff pretty good.

Standard AR triggers are pretty good in the world of military firearms but they are a bit limiting when one mounts some decent glass and starts to reach out there. Most folks will use at least a Rock River National Match which goes for about $120 these days . It will drop right in without any fuss . Other triggers start at that price and go on up to $300 or so. some are a bit of work to adjust.

The other key to AR accuracy is quality ammo . Cheep blasting ammo won't drive tacks and standard ball will hit about 1.5 to 2.5 M.O.A in decent guns . If you spend more money on ammo or components you get premium bullets and most any AR will get 1 M.O.A. with good glass, decent trigger and some skill behind the gun
