Once again I went over my head in my quest to build an AR. Because there were no BCG's in stock within my budget, I went ahead and ordered all the parts off of Brownells that I need to assemble one. As I was ordering I scrounged up a quick list of parts I need, but now I'm not so sure I ordered everything I need. Here's what I ordered: 1 Bolt Carrier, 1 Stripped Bolt, 1 AR Firing Pin, 1 Cam Pin, 1 Firing Pin Retaining Pin, 1 Extractor Spring with Insert. If you guys need the link the the individual products I can post those if requested. Thanks for all your help.

Oh one more thing. Are there differnt sizes of gas rings?

How was that cheaper than buying a complete BCG? I see loads of them for 99 bucks in the bCG in stock thread. Granted they're all sorta out of the blue companies I've never heard of but still seems like if you're following a budget.

No but they make three ring combos and special 1 piece type rings.  I use the standard rings have all my life.

I'm now starting to realize that :/ But on the bright side I'm looking at this as a kind of learning experience.

Thanks again man. I'm starting to realize this may be a bit more complicated then I thought it would be, but I'm sure I'll be alright in the end.

It is actually easier than you are making it out to be.  Assembling a bolt is pretty easy also youtube I bet has videos that will give you a step by step.  Relax and just remember to stake your gas key NO RED LOCTITE!!!!!

That's an incredible deal if you're okay with an 8620 bolt.

Order one. Maybe Brownell's will allow you to cancel your order. If not, returning it is always an option.

It isn't hard. I'm assuming this will be your first time, so just take your time and pay attention to what you're doing. You'll be fine.

Good luck getting the ejector installed without a special tool. You might as well add this $45 item to your shopping list:

You don't need that. A socket, small C-clamp, and fired 9mm casing work great together.

And this $35 complete bolt. Since they are all unmarked, only you know if it is 8620 or C185! You may never find out the difference unless you fire full auto.

Well I got everything together quite nicely. Getting the ejector in with the roll pin was probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life.
