Hello, I bought my first AR two weekends ago (Bushmaster XM-15 E2S) and I have two questions to ask. What will be the advantage of a longer barrel & the other will be what should be the first thing I should do to the AR to improve accuracy?

Shoot it and learn from it. In time you will learn your personal AR preferences.

The longer barrel offers higher velocity and longer sight radius.

I prefer 20" barrels myself, many here prefer carbines.

The most immediate mechanical thing would be match ammo.

Step away from the computer, get out to the range and practice.  If something needs to be changed you'll know it after living with the gun for awhile.
