| Hey guys! I've had my Wilson rifle for a few months now and I have to say that I love it! I got to thinking a few days ago "Why isn't Wilson used in service?" Well I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I tried researching and I could only find stuff on their 1911's. This Wilson rifle has got to be the nicest rifle I've ever shot second to the SR-15 my buddy has (no question why those are always contracted out) but why not Wilson? Are they too expensive? Not reliable enough? Or is there just no specific reason? Anyone have any info on this? Don't bash my thread please though. |
| By used in service Im assuming you mean military. They are nowhere near big enough to fill .mil contracts. Someone may come correct me, but Wilson is a custom shop of sorts, and produces semi-custom 1911s (my favorite 1911s for what its worth). So yeah, not big enough of an operation would be my guess |

Their AR's from what I've experienced from this one are extremely high quality! I knew it couldn't have been a quality control issue. |
| i wonder this same thing i was thinking about it today why doesnt wilson combat get mentioned much on here about there AR's cause from what i see on there website they look just has high quality and well made has there 1911's. if i had the money i would buy a complete wilson or larue with my first 2 choices. |

You and me both man. I saw when LaRue first put out their first batch of rifles they sold out in 6 minutes. lol. It's hard to find any tier one rifles anywhere. I would've bought a KAC rifle over Wilson if I could've found one but I couldn't find them anywhere. |

Wilson is too small of an operation, and they are too expensive. Your post seems to infer that the military always uses the best stuff, which just isn't true. Also Tier 1 is a meaningless term that some internet goof made up. wilson AR's are no more exspensive from what i seen then a larue or noveske or kac. quote me if im wrong though. |

I didn't know that the SR-15 was under a military contract... SR-25 is. My mistake. I was under the assumption it was SR-15. Oh well, the term "Tier One" might be made up but the idea behind it is completely true. Yep, I've never seen an SR15 in a .mil armory. Mil does have contracts for the Mk11 and M110, however. |

None of which are in use either in .223. He is right, they are simply too expensive for anything other then small unit purchases. |

I wasn't under the assumption that the military uses the best of the best. But special forces units like Rangers, Seals, etc. tend to have a much larger budget than standard military outfits so they usually get higher end equipment. |
