Gent's,

I purchased my first SSA last weekend - I'm not new to Geissele as, I have (2) Hi-Speed's, (3) SSA-E's, and (2) S3G's. All of the them are obviously awesome! However, I wanted to try out an original SSA. After installing the SSA it was a little heavier than the advertised 4.5lbs (it was releasing the hammer closer to 5.0lbs.).

Therefore, I called Geissele to inquire if I could change either the trigger and/or, disconnector springs with some extra SSA-E springs I have. He advised that wouldn't be a problem at all...I proceeded to change both and I didn't care for the trigger pull, it was lighter but, it felt a little mushy (kind of like a 3.5lb Glock trigger - which I have in my G31) especially on the sear reset.

So, I proceeded to put the original trigger spring back in and just leave in the SSA-E disconnector spring - wow, what a difference, it now releases the hammer at exactly 3.75lbs and has a very crisp & sharp break (in between a "carrot" and "candy cane" break - let's call it a "frozen carrot" or, a "last years Christmas' candy cane"). I like the break so much that, my future triggers will be SSA's with an SSA-E disconnector spring.

Just thought I would share

p.s. Bill, if you read this...perhaps, this can be an added option to your line of triggers for a few extra $$ include a set of lighter & heavier springs for the end user to customize/modify to their liking & requirements?

Read the title of your thread and immediately thought you were going to say you had taken a dremel to the trigger

I was all like... "Some retard took a wet stone to a Geissele!?!"

Glad I was wrong...

Glad I'm not the only one who thought you broke out the dremmel.

Good to know, though.

OP, I'm glad it worked for you but I like my SSA the way they come. Mr. Geissele please don't change the SSA.

I swapped the hammer/trigger springs in my SSA-E for JP Rifles "yellow" springs.  As a result, the total letoff weight dropped from about 3.5 lbs to about 2.5 lbs (measured from the lower half of the trigger blade).  Perfect for punching paper from a benchrest.  It still reliably pops my commercial primers (CCI BR-4 and 450s). - CW

Does Bill sell the springs separately?

I've been debating what the third Geissele trigger I'm about to buy will be,  and I like the idea of swapping springs out.

I've looked around a bit for the springs with no luck yet. I sent them an email yesterday and am waiting on a response. I'm actually look to go to a heavier spring in my SD E. It stock one kind of scares me though I may just need to get used to it.

I've been drinking and I am no engineer.

Therefore, I think I'll stay with the original SSA as designed.

(I do not impugn those who attempt to improve the world.   ....unless they are f&^%ing Utopians, Socialists, or big D Democrats, that is.)

Joe, including the extra spring will open up a customer service can of worms for us with all the swapping things back and forth.  Selling springs by special orders ok, but including them with the trigger is a no go.

I think we are up to 6 different disconnector springs to tune things, and probably a dozen trigger springs

Bill,

Yes, I can see how that would be an arduous task of having multiple springs w/multiple triggers, etc.

Thank you for the reply & clarification!

Cheers!
