| Saw a 6940 this morning and went to get it. While i was looking it over i saw a spot weld or allen head screw in port side of the upper reciever . What is this for? I looked at some images and saw it again but the ones i saw had the "screw" at the back edge towards the charging handle end. This one was in the middle of the relief. Does it matter where the screw is located? |

Quoted:
Same receiver as 6940P, allenhead screw holds a steel insert inside receiver to prevent cam pin wear. New 6940s also have a latch on front sight, older versions did not. I really like the 6940/6940P rifles, mine are tack-drivers. Go get it today Mine was madein 09 and doesnt have that jazz, it comes from the piston model. As this gent said, its a ray gun of accuracy, cant imagine you went to the store and didnt bring it home? Go get it +1 |
| 6940 hand guard is about 6 inches long and too basic. Front Flipperoo sight is a joke. Rodgers stock is ugly as shit. Comes in a cardboard box. Wal-Mart sellouts..Colt customer service is terrible. I cant sign off on Colt these days even with their 1911's.. Over it! |

6940 hand guard is about 6 inches long and too basic. Its a carbine length rail, plus its monolithic. Agree if you are wanting something different, 6940 is probably not the best platform to start from. Front Flipperoo sight is a joke. Or for those of us who run optics, prefer a front BUIS that is not in the FOV that also is attached to the barrel instead of the rail, it works. Never really got front flip sights on a free floated rail myself. Rodgers stock is ugly as shit.No argument there, but it locks up very tight. My Glock is ugly too, but neither are in any beauty contests. Comes in a cardboard box. Which immediately gets recycled. Wal-Mart sellouts. If I had a product I could sell through the largest retailer in the world..... Colt customer service is terrible. Can't speak personally on this one, never had to use it. I cant sign off on Colt these days even with their 1911's.. Over it! As long as it floats your boat though - gotta go with what makes you happy. |
