| Hello, My department just got rifle racks and the guy at the shop who installed them said he heard some guys are using locking takedown pins so their rifles cant be disassembled and taken away by errant youths. I never heard of these and can only find one product at Brownell's that is advertised as tightening the play between the upper & lower which I don't care about. Anybody ever hear of or have experience with such a product. Suggestions or opinions appreciated. Thanks. |

I never heard of a "Locking" Takedown or pivot pins....
But I have seen where the takedown detent and spring has been replace with a machined set screw!!! So the pivot still works the same. But the Takedown Pin is locked in place! This of course means you have to remove the stock, to loosen the screw to takedown your AR..... Hth....... |

I'd imagine it's possible, although I haven't heard of them or seen them. I know with some of the cheaper rifle racks (e.g. the shitty ones my unit first got us) you could pop the take down/pivot pins and pull the rifle out of the locked rifle rack.
They have since moved up to the better ones that hold the rifle in the right places to not allow that to happen. |

I've installed and built LE rifle restraint systems, if the ar can be taken apart then the mount system is defective. Don't leave rifles in unattended vehicles.
Recommend looking into the handcuff (telescoping) style restraint system. These can adjust to any rifle configuration easily. They ratchet small enough to lock onto the barrel. |
