Has anybody used this rail that would not recommend it for a duty rifle? I'm primarily concerned that I may want the stronger mounting system of the Lite rail.
I'm not finding enough information ( really any) on anybody who has used this hard and commented on the strength of the rail and mounting system. I know what I need in a rail and I really like the MFR. Strength is the issue here. Thanks for any help. |
| I replaced my 12.0 Lite for the 12.0 MFR and I'm happy I did. My MFR seems to be plenty strong. I snapped a screw on my 12.0 Lite but have no clue how it happened. Both are good rails. If you go with the MFR, replace the 4 set screws with ones that are a little longer. |

The MFR is a nice rail. My only gripe with it is the lack of shorter rail sections for it. There's really no way around it since the locking slots are intervaled but if you run a VFG then you have additional rail hanging out the back or front of it.
I've built plenty of uppers with the MFR9 and MFR12 and I'm already starting to think DD, Troy, and a few others need to transition into KeyMod systems for better mounting. If a keymod rail wasn't available I'd say go with the MFRs simply because I've abused mine and it has yet to work its way loose. It will get uncomfortably hot though and that's why I'm starting to recommend KeyMod rail systems. |

Appreciate the help.
This has to be a full factory rifle. I have a build code from Daniel Defense so it will certainly have DD rails before it's out the door on the way to me. I know either rail will work but I love the feel of the MFR. I also definitely don't want to worry about a bumped rail and zero shift. Anybody else? |

I've got one. Haven't been very kind to it. Rides in truck everywhere I go. Love the look and feel of it. Hardware was weaker than you'd expect for the money. Mine hasn't worked loose yet and I see no reason to worry about it. Use plenty locktite. Don't think I'd go same route again. For $250 I'd expect a little more meat where it matters. Just my 2 centavos. |

I'll be moving to the Centurion Arms CMR asap.
MFR is now officially a dated design, IMHO of course. For the record I own a factory DD M4 V7. I want a rail that works a little harder for me versus a rail that just sits there waiting for me to do something to it. |
| Mine (DDM4 V7) has been plenty strong. I moved the bottom rail section back for a vg. I do not put alot of stuff on my rails other than a optic which is on the upper section. A T1. Heat is not that big a deal cause I use the vg and a sling. Does it get hotter than my v1 lw yes but still not a big deal. Now I do not abuse it or have I not used it to beat on someones head either. But I don't baby it when I train. I like the looks and it is a bit lighter than a regular 12" rail. If you like it and it breaks DD will make it right. One thing I like, the option of moving sections around if need be. But still keep the tube look that I like. My advise based on experience and not knocking any other mfg mentioned. I have several AR's all diffrent in configuration to a degree. RRA, DD, SOG, CMMG, SIG, LT. |

The best handguard Daniel Defense makes is the Rail Interface System aka RIS II. I don't think the tube rail system is outdated, actually I am seeing ALOT of variations on a tube being introduced and expanded on. RRA, DPMS, STAG, just to name a few. IMHO ofcourse. |

I can't wait until the Centurion Arms CMR is released. I have one of their C4 rails on my main rifle and it is without a doubt, one of the highest quality pieces of aluminum I've ever gripped. It's out and shipping. I've got a 14". Delivered last Saturday. |

Oh, better believe I'm interested in the CMR. But I'm trying to order a factory DD right now. They have no Geissle SSA right now so I guess I'll wait for the 3rd build code and hope they have the right rail and trigger then... |
