I'm shopping for my first AR and found a SIG516 Patrol $1800 out the door.  I haven't fired a AR (A2) since I was in the Army back 89-92.  I see the SIG516 uses a pushrod gas operating system rather than Direct impingement gas operating system like on the old A2.  I've read some reviews on the SIG516 and the pushrod gas operating system.  Good reviews on the pushrod gas operating system but reading mixed reviews on the SIG516.  Any advice or feedback on the SIG516?  Is the price reasonable given the current market?  Thanks!

Also check into Bravo Company (BCM) and Daniel Defense. Their MilSpec ARs are well made and highly respected. The are others too...Larue, Noveske, etc.

Forget the piston operated and stick with DI.  DI is the way the rifle was designed.  Gas piston is fairly new and retro fitted to the DI system....It hasn't proven itself yet. just my 2 cents
