| I have never had the chance to fire an AR with a single stage trigger and I am curious about them. I am researching a lower receiver build and the trigger is one of the hardest choices to make. Granted, with a trigger, your choices are somewhat made up for you, 2-stage you go with Geissele, or maybe the ARgold, and with 1 stage, Timney seems to be it. My question is, is the single stage a good match for the AR? Now if I was going to use the lower with a 24" 6.5 grendel upper with a bipod and 25X magnification scope, then I assume the 1 stage would be the way to go. However, I think its going to be used to mate with a Beowulf upper and therefore it seems that a 2-stage would be a better choice. Am I correct or are there more applications for the 1 stage trigger in the AR other than long-range and precision marksmanship? |
| I think you're a little confused, bro. Standard, milspec triggers are single-stage. In a general sense, precision shooters use two-stage triggers because it can give the shooter more precise control over exactly where the break is. There are lots of great options these days though for two-stage designs that are "combat-proven", so to speak. If I remember right, some SOCOM guys use the Geissele SSF. With all the good options out there, everybody now can get exactly the type of trigger pull they prefer, in the exact type of trigger they prefer, without having to worry about what is "supposed" to be used for what. |
