While I am not new to firearms, I am new to the AR platform and new to this site.
I purchased my first AR (DDM4) in late December, I got in right before the prices almost doubled. ridiculous! Anyway, I'm loving it and wanted to say hello as I get started. I have been reading many of your posts regarding various AR issues and opinions and decided to join today. Look forward to spirited, lively discussions and opinions regarding the AR and other platforms. |

Now for the funny stuff: This is the place to go for most of your answers. Take some time to browse the different forums and sub-forums, and this will pay off for you in that you'll know the best place to ask your questions. The place is a trove of experience. Look at Arfcom101. This will give yo some background in the site's history and how it operates... also it'll explain some site-specific memes, such as FO, 87, FUAROCK, and throwing your AR down the driveway. (Yes, someone actually posted such a story.) When entering General Discussion, there are some people here who are on the up-and-up... and others who should not be allowed to dress themselves. Wear your bullet proof vest, and your life preserver, because at one time or another in GD you WILL be shot down and sunk! (The other forums are more controlled, and pulling some of the kind of crap that goes on in GD will get you gently "reminded" that you are not in GD. This ESPECIALLY goes for the Women's Shooter Forum!) eta And consider spending the $24 for a Bronze membership! This will give yo some priveleges, such as entering the Members Only forum, being able to search Archives, and a few others. For $2.00 per month it is money well spent! |

Sounds like sound advice to me. Thank you very much for the feedback and direction. There is soooo much
stuff out there and I want solid, knowledgeable feedback prior to making decisions. It sounds like I can get that here if I'm careful. Hopefully one day I will be welcoming Noobies and giving advice on their AR. Thanks again! |
