| I was wondering if anybody has used dry graphite spray on the action parts of their AR's. Because I know it causes a lot less friction on metal to metal contact but wasnt sure how the black powder residue would effect it. |

 Yep found it out the hard way, have a new Rock River A2 tube and buffer that was gritty and never liked putting oil or grease in there so tried the Dry Graphite in there. Wondered why my lower receiver around buffer tube threads looked horrible, cleaned it up real quick with some break cleaner and CLP and so far so good. I think I have a permanent mark back there on aluminum now though but havnt really cared enough to worry about it looking pretty.
SO...... question is WHY does Graphite not like aluminum? I would love to here a knowledgeable person in chemicals and metallurgy explain this to us. |

Years ago he gave me his recipe for gun lubricant-and I've been using it ever since. It is nothing more than a 1:1 ratio of Mobil1 synthetic motor oil and Mobil1 synthetic ATF. It stays put, won't burn off, and does a fantastic job. Best of all, two quarts of "ingredients" will last for years

I get oil on an old tshirt I use to wipe down the outside where the oil runs out because I actually use lube! |

Graphite or Chroline left on an exposed area where the anodize finish is gone will accelerate the corrosion. The anodize finish of aluminium slows the corrosion effect. |
