I am currently starting on my second build. I was given an 11.5 " barrel with some parts. Are there free floats for those length barrels and what are good ones? I was also wondering if the regular buffer tube and spring will work for this build? I have a PSA buffer tube with spring and buffer. PSA lower and upper from anderson. Finally I have a bushmaster LPK.
Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated..

You either have to make it a pistol or you are going to have to register it as an SBR.  Not sure if you knew that or not but didn't want you slapping one together and going to the range and get yourself in trouble.

That means a different buffer tube correct? I have never researched or even tried to build a pistol.

Yes, different stuff for the receiver extension (buffer tube).
Research it a little bit.

What else would I need. I hope I am not bugging you. I appreciate all of the info.

No prob. You will need to get a pistol buffer tube, Like this and you should be fine with the rest being the standard carbine weight buffer and spring.
Other than that, there are specifics about what you can and cannot have on the handguard (no vert-grip, magpul angled foregrip seems to be okay) and a couple other things.

ETA: If you build that lower into a rifle and pin that upper onto it, you will be in possession of an un-registered short-barrel rifle (not something you want to be caught with). even having a stocked-lower and the short-barrel upper in the same residence can be construed as intent, if you do not have an appropriate sbr lower or pistol lower for it to go.
Either way, I would build that baby into a pistol and if you decide down the road or even now that you want to drop the coin ($200) to register the lower as a sbr, you can use it in the meantime as a pistol.

I appreciate all of the info. It is very helpful. Now if I can find the BCG I will be in business.
Thanks

There are tons of free-floats that would be perfect for that barrel length. Depending upon how much you are looking to spend and how long you want it (IMO the longer the rail the better, on pistols at least) the options are nearly endless.
Here is a good place to start looking. Aim Surplus Handguard Page

Good luck on the BCG. My brother ordered one from DSA a couple weeks ago, but everyone's back-order list has turned into multiple months since then.
Anything else I can help you with, feel free to ask or e-mail me.

Not into the SBR scene - looks to me to be a rat's maze of red tape to have a "short barreled rifle" which trades range and power for size reduction. You also get a louder report and more flash/gas to deal with - and no stock - so it's turning a rifle into a FrankenHandgun I guess    The SBR Faithful may take me to task for these heretic views - but if I had only ONE AR it would not be an SBR.

As far as stuff to bolt on - regardless of the AR variant, I love the Folding Pistol Grip by Mako/FAB - it locks in position pretty solid, feels good, has storage and gives you more room in a case or scabbard.

you never really used one then

"power and range" you've defiantly never shot one

IMHO, I would register it as a SBR, way more practicle than a AR "pistol" or if you don't want to go through all that, get a 5.5" FH pinned on there.

I have a 5.5" fake suppressor from spikes tactical and a 9" troy alpha rail. I was planning on a fake sbr (pin and weld the fake can) and went with a 14.5. Pm me if your interested i'd let them go at a good price.
