First of all since this is my first post i want to say hello.
I was considering buying a M&P15 ts (magpul furniture troy alfa rail and vortex) and i was wandering if anyone had pictures of it.. or any rifle with that particular rail and barrel length since i havent found many pictures of this particular model on google and im trying to gauge whether i like the setup (specifically cant decide whether i like the rail) from an aesthetic point of view. Also any specific info on S&W stock triggers is aprreciated.. the greatest flaw of my current one is the trigger that has more creep than a Zerg base and goes in little "jumps" as you pull it.. terrible I'm a big fan of this site, of the ar15 platform and of firearms and responsible firearm ownership in general. this is what i currently have: any comments would be appreciated :D Remington 700 SPS tactical .308 win Norinco CQ-A M4 .223 rem Walther PPQ 9x21 IMI http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd107/ViperVenom16/forum%20uploads/ssssss.jpg |

I have a TS. By far the nicest rifle S&W makes.
CMV barrel though the website doesn't say this the website for the upper alone does. Mine is marked CMV 1/7 5.56 NATO I've added kac sights a aimpoint in a larue mount. And a scout light in a iwc mount. Bunch if iwc parts for the alpha rail (hand stop and sling mount) I kick hippies end plate bla bla bla. |
| The TS is definitely one of the sweetest factory set ups that S&W produces. The chrome lined 14.5" pinned barrel in 1:7 with Vortex flash hider is sweet. Wrapped in a 13" Troy handguard and you have a great factory rifle with MOE gear as well. To my knowledge, it's the only 14.5" that Smith makes. Love this set up. |

Dannofree that sounds awesome!!!!! can i have pictures of your M&P15 TS please? i really wanna see it!!
on the website it says 4140 steel.. i know 4150 CMV is better.. strange that they'd get it wrong on their site, but either way it wouldnt make much of a difference for my applications, i mainly just intend to use it for cuddling it, staring at it and for recreational shooting ;) here the M&P TS is 1950 euro on the importers website (bignami).. my gun shop told me 1750 (roughly 2270 U.S dollaz), which is actually an exellent price, (considering ITAR and the fact that its US made, also the magpul furniture which would be very expensive here, and the troy rail which i wouldnt be able to obtain otherwise.) ive done my research and just the magpul BUIS, stock, grip, and vortex flashider would cost me over 350 euros to buy here.. i think that rifle is a great deal. the average ive seen for tactical rifles here in italy is much higher.. for example an astra stg4 guernica (horrible pos, google it) 1900 eu at another closeby gunshop.. german AR15s by oberland (seriously id rather keep my chinese one) go for over 3000 euros.. i think as soon as the new S&W models hit the market here they'll drive all other ar15 manufacturers off the italian market. my norinco one cost me 860 and i have to admit its a great carbine. after swapping the original mags (which had been welded to 5 rounds -.- and caused FTF) i only ever had it jam on loose primers that came out of HOT ammo i loaded :S trigger on it sucks though. Also i want that "navy seal" looking rifle with a foot-long free float rail, and probably an UBR stock :D thanks for all the positive feedback! |

I have the S&W in the 5.45x39 caliber (no longer produced), and I'm sure it uses the same trigger the rest of them do, aside from mine having a heavier hammer spring.
To get rid of that gritty feel, get an Arkansas Fine Oil Stone, keep it well oiled, and LIGHTLY stone the sear surfaces. Follow up with a Dremel and some simichrome polish. Add in some Super Lube Grease and the trigger will silky smooth and break like glass. As for the trigger travel, take a 6-32 tap and run it all the way through the handle base, as the thread stops about 2-3 threads before breaking through. Grab a self locking set screw and screw it in until it touches the back portion of the trigger. Adjust until you're happy with the trigger pull distance. Make sure and do proper safety checks for trigger cycling before using a fully loaded magazine. The grip screw will have to be replaced by one that's roughly 1/4" shorter. |
