I have 2 ARs with the A2 front sight posts. How hard is it to remove those and replace with a flat gas block? Recommend a replacement gas block please.

If it matters both are a ST mid length 16" upper.

Why change you ask? Because the the post blurs the optics.

Thanks!

It's possible, it ain't easy, and it leaves the barrel scarred (which of course gets covered by the new gas block).

I've done it twice, and have come to the conclusion it's easier (and cleaner) to replace the barrel with one that has not had a front sight post pinned to it.

cut down the front sight and re-install. you wont have anything ugly on your barrel.

You can "chop" the A2 front sight.  GunWebsites have a Youtube video on this process.  I hear ADCO does a good job as well.  I am in the same boat as you.  I'll probably send it off to ADCO.
