hey guys, I just purchased a new AR FIFTEEN lower for a SBR build.  In looking at the receiver, there are two holes where the pistol grip is mounted.  The first one is threaded for the pistol grip but it is through and through. I've never seen this.  Does anyone have any insight on this.  the second hole has no threads and also goes through and through.  Can anyone explain these two things to me please.  Thanks.

Pictures would help. I think you're talking about the hole for the pistol grip screw and the hole for the selector detent and spring.

Before you SBR that lower, make sure it'll mount to an upper correctly with the pivot and takedown pins installed. Other people are having a problem with them.

The threaded hole is like you say--for the grip screw. Just need to get correct length screw to work and it's GTG. The second smaller hole will be for the Safety detent and spring. Just look at some schemematic to see where everything goes. There all over the Net.

The additional hole appears to be for placing a 1/8" OD tubing (cut to size) in order to help reduce wobble between the upper receiver take down tang and the lower.

Some people were threading the hole and using a set screw to tighten the upper / lower fit.
