Ok so I am getting a few comments here and from friends on my trigger guard. This is my first build. Bought the trigger guard because it had a punisher skull on the bottom. Some think this big thing is ugly. I have mixed feelings... Upper just got ordered today (RRA 24" varmint).

Anyway give me some input here... should I get an FDE winter trigger guard or other?

suggestions?

If You like it thats all that matters.

There is way to much going on there for Me.
I like a plain lower with a stock, Magpul or KAC trigger gaurd.

The grip looks good but the pins or covers are too much.

No covers the mag release is a custom oversize button. all one peice. And the takedown pins are extended and knurled. They are sweet and great to get a grip on. Ya the skulls are overkill but I am a Punisher freak. Especially after reading 'American Sniper'.

Looks out of place, just my opinion. Go with the spikes trigger guard. it has the spider on the bottom of it.

“Some think this big thing is ugly”
I agree with Some.

I don't know how large is too large, but on some, if you are slinging major lead (.50 beowolf, 450 bushmaster, 458 socom) it will rap your knuckles good and plenty.

Yeah, when I saw your pic in another thread, I thought that lower looked nice (a tad busy) but that trigger guard really stuck out. It just didn't flow. The Magpul would be much better or as recommended above, the Spike's Billet Trigger Guard. Just picked one up myself for a build. It's a sweet little add.

Yeah, that's all fine and dandy, but the issue remains.
That trigger guard is whack. (and I'm being kind)

Get a freakin' Magpul and move on.
(and don't break the ear on your receiver or the Grip of Shame will be in your future)

Flip a coin. It doesn't matter what side it lands on, just take note of which side you're hoping it lands on for that split second it's in the air.

sorry about the comment if it functions the way you need to that all that matters

That has way too many skulls on it. It looks like an Affliction shirt.
And the trigger guard is pretty hideous.

I would take a look at other people's pictures and see with one you like e best.
I have a FDE magpul TG on my ar.  I really like the angle and the price.
But if you really like that bottle cap opener you have on your AR, fuck what everyone else thinks.
It's your gun, do what make you happy.

Bingo.

Btw, all my trigger guards have a winter capability, its called push the detent and fold the guard down.

All joking aside, you'd be surprised how many people don't know that the oem guard folds.

I'm surprised you didn't get the spikes punisher lower to complete the ensemble. Not a fan of the trigger guard, but if it works for you...enjoy.

I like the punisher motif though, did you do the pistol grip yourself?

There's a place that'll do laser-etched guards - I got two - the black aluminum Magpuls. For my friend in the 'Corp, I got him the EGA in the middle (if you rotate the rifle to the right while holding it) and "YAT" on the left of the EGA and "YAS" on the right side. Stands for "You Ain't Tracks You Ain't..." a tanker MOS saying. My own is a silhouette of a B52 with "28th OMS" curved over the top and "B-52H" curving up underneath. These were about $26 each plus a little for shipping I think.

Aside from my chattiness, your guard here for me just doesn't really flow; it looks like a part pinned on. I think where it loses me is how the frame and the guard ends are "jagged". One guard I have yet to find for sale is this cool one that has a "winged" or tabbed front end that helps to act as a mag-guide.

Glad to see you having a lot of fun and tricking the gun out to your liking. Just never use it against a bad guy right now. They'll wave your skull-gun at the jury and bye-bye... Soon, when the economy bites it, all bets will be off and a gun is a gun at that point. THAT'S precious metal, believe me.
12/6/2012 5:29:35 PM EDT
[#17]
Just think.  No one else will have a gun looking quite the way yours is.

Go with what you like.  If you are questioning it now then it may not be right for you.  There are plenty of options.
12/6/2012 5:38:30 PM EDT
[#18]
Its your gun- whatever makes YOU happy. But if you go with a magpul guard instead of a winter one, you get that annoying gap closed off. Since you like the punisher:
Option 1
Option 2
12/6/2012 5:53:07 PM EDT
[#19]
YOU WIN!!!!!! The "I have Punisher Skulls on my rifle and try to guess how many Award" just kid'n...

Honestly, I agree with most of the replys. You might be going a bit overboard on the whole punisher thing. Please don't get the matching laser etched port door If you already did, ya might want to save it for another build . If your concerned about being judged by your fellow shooters at the range most guys would probably think it's a tad bit much going on. If showing it off to a bunch of 12 year olds...They will think your as cool as cool gets. I do think the grip is pretty cool as well but if I was was building it, the grip would be enough punisher for me. Tatoos are cool however the same one plastered all over your body would look rather odd.

Back to the original question. That trigger guard will except the largest of winter gloved fingers on the planet. It does throw off the overall profile a bit too much for me and personally I would choose another. The Magpul guards have a nice shallow swell and really flow with the look of the rifle once complete and allow plenty of room for a gloved finger. Get the alum or the plastic.  When shooting it's sometimes nice to allow your finger to rest on the guard during trigger press. It looks like a finger could actually pass under that sucker if using this method.

As previously mentioned, this is YOURS! and you should only build it for you and the hell with all other opinions including mine.

I am not a fan of the trigger guard or all the skulls. But if you like it, that's all that counts.
12/6/2012 5:59:33 PM EDT
[#21]
Cool look.  you will really like it if you shoot a lot in cold weather, nice warm gloves would fit easily, and safely in that trigger guard.  If you shoot only in warm weather I don't see the practical need.
12/6/2012 6:06:11 PM EDT
[#22]
What you really need is a quad rail where every single hole is a die-cut Punisher, and the flash hider that is nothing but little cut-out Punishers...and your rear BUIS is the outline of the Punisher instead of a circle...

Ever see "that guy" wearing the Ed Hardy hat, Ed Hardy sun glasses, Ed Hardy necklace, Ed Hardy t-shirt, Ed Hardy belt, Ed Hardy jeans, Ed Hardy shoes and the Ed Hardy watch at da club? Do you want to be "that guy"?

Hmm...  Your rifle doesn't look like mine.  Mine is the ONLY AR that has ever looked CORRECT, and the only one that CAN, because it's MINE.
There are probably a whole lot of other things you are doing with your life that are not as I would have them be.  Remain in close touch, and I'll set you straight on all matters.

I'll tell you what, who ever designed that trigger guard is... Wow

I'll take a brand new ST trigger guard, burn a Punisher logo on it and send it to you for free, just for you to toss that thing..

IM me your address and it's a done deal!

That's gotta be the worse design work I've ever seen.

I don't understand why there is such a fascination with the Punisher. Do people really want to lose their whole families in order to become a lonely, obsessed, murderous vigilante? I'm afraid of the Arfcom answers to the aforementioned question

All right guys I have taken a beating. But I really was asking because it looks a bit wrong. I've been looking at many of the pics on this site and find that it looks to big and "jagged" as some have mentioned. I think I will look for the Spike's trigger guard or an FDE Magpul. Any good suggestions where to order one?

Definitely looks odd. Not because it's oversized but because the angels are wrong, to boxy. My favorite trigger guard is the rock river winter trigger guard it's similar but not as boxy.

That's a cute punisher themed barbie gun.

I think it's sweet when dudes play dress up with their guns .  I always like to make all my tools look fancy.  You should see the skirt I put on my powerdrill it's sophisticated and lets drywall know it's going to get the heck drilled out of it.

My suggestion is to shoot your rifle and use the equipment and parts that allow you to be as capable as possible without as much concern over other peoples opinions of how your rilfe looks.
