OK, I'm sure someone will think this is a dumb question.  However, I always tell trainees there is no such thing as a stupid question, unless you have one that you didn't ask.  And THAT is stupid!

Anyway, I can't figure out WHERE the O Ring is supposed to go on the BCG.  It is mentioned at the end of the "Features" list for a BCM BCG on this web site:

BCM Bolt Carrier Group

Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks in advance!

It is an optional addition to the extractor spring and buffer.

It increases the extractor resistance to avoid it "slipping off" the cartridge rim and extracting the spent casing.

To use it, you need to remove the extractor, and simply slip the "O" ring over the extractor spring and insert already installed in the bolt.

Opinions vary on its use and necessity as BCM already uses the "improved" spring and buffer insert.

OK, so THAT is why I couldn't find it illustrated anywhere, nor could I find it anywhere on either of my AR's.

(I did check the FAQ's first.)

Thanks for the clarification!

Only stupid question is the one that isn't asked.
