| Recently finished my 1st complete upper build . Doublestar 20" chrome lined 1-9 barrel, Rock River upper receiver, Bushmaster BCG,DPMS free float barrel tube and quad rail gas block. Using it on a previosly built Surplus Ammo & Arms lower with a retractable carbine stock. Is there a break-in period for a new upper to run properly. It doesn't want to cycle well especially with handloaded 62 gr ammo. JR |
| Should be no break in period. To troubleshoot any issue, we always begin be eliminating as many variables as possible. Set the reloads aside and get some quality factory ammo to function test the rifle. Load 3 rounds into a magazine, insert the mag into the rifle and fire 3 shots. Report the condition of the rifle after the first shot, along with any corrective action. Report the condition of the rifle after the second shot, along with any corrective action. Report the condition of the rifle after the third shot. Once we have the data reported, we may assess and advise. |

I agree that testing with known good ammo should be first step. Could be as simple as underpowered loads.
Have you tried loading one cartridge and firing to see if BCG locks back on empty mag? Is your bolt not stripping the next cartridge and lugs digging into the side of case? Have you fried more than one mag? Just trying to think of additional things not mentioned yet. |

It fires , extracts, and ejects but won't load the next cartridge. JR I'd start by getting rid of that garbage gas block and get a good gas block on there. Make sure the barrel's gas port and gas block are properly aligned. I just love it when some of the snobs on here and some other forums open their mouths and show their ignorrance. Not all of us are just rolling in $$$$$ |
