Hey guys,

I need help deciding which AR I should get as my first. Either a Colt or a Troy Ind. Both are easily accessible to me in Walmart or Dicks. People seem to be raving about the Troy but it seems a bit new and I'm worried about it being unproven, but everything I read is awesome. The Colt is a Colt. Both are in a similar price range.

Which would you get?

Troy makes good accessories, but Colt is the safer bet when it comes to rifles.

Are you sure its a completely built Troy rifle?  I dont think they make lowers or uppers...just rails and BUIS.  Could be wrong though.

Cant go wrong with either.  I'd go with which ever rifle has the features you like to be a solid base for what you want to do with it later (if any).  If you just plan to keep it completely stock and no mods other than an optic... I'd go with which ever is cheaper.

Yes. Troy has a complete AR available at Dick's Sporting Goods. You can identify it by it's fugly stock.
