Hey guys, finally got my lpk installed in my lower. It's all stag, the fitment and feel is great. The trigger is not bad IMO, but as I have no comparison, I'm wanting to pull the trigger as much as my free time allows me to break it in till I get it complete.

Question being, while dry firing, I won't damage anything just letting the hammer go on its own will I? My thumb kinda hurts from stopping it before it hits. May be dumb, but I hate throwing money away and I don't want to damage my lower by playing with it.

Thanks y'all

Don't let the hammer hit the receiver at the bolt catch. Dry firing with the rifle together with the BCG in place is fine.

If you're talking about a complete lower with no upper on it, NO, don't repeatedly allow the hammer to fall under its own power. You might get away with it a few times, but eventually you will damage the lower.

It is bad to let the hammer hit the receiver.

If you are dry firing a complete gun with the complete upper installed there are no ill effects.

Thank y'all so much. I had a feeling that was the case, but I figured to ask the crew. Just gonna have a sore thumb for awhile!

Again, thank y'all

They make dry fire "tools" i guess you'd call it. Basically goes in the mag well and does not allow the hammer to fall completely. With a quick look i found this.

Edit, found it by itself HERE

Youll bust the bolt catch, or worse, the lower very soon from continuous dry firing without a complete upper attached.

Just use the palm of your hand, and stop the hammer right after it breaks and re-set it and continue. You barely have to move your hand.

DO NOT dry fire unless the rifle is fully assembled or you are catching the hammer before it hits. You will break or damage something.

If you have the upper off, put a foam earplug in the area the hammer hits, sideways, and click away day and night.   You would be better off putting the upper on, and dry firing at a post it note target on the wall though.
