| My question is, I have the oppotunity to purchase a AR 15 lower, which I have been after for sometime. It is nice shape. But the serial number starts with SP, and roll marks say it is a AR 15 A2 Sporter II. Seller said it is a pre ban. Are all SP serial number pre ban rifles, including the Sporter II, wihich I am not familiar with. I am trying to match it up to a pre ban 20" Colt Upper I have been holding for about 15 years. Does the SP make the lower worth more. Guy wants $650. It looks to be in good shape. No stock included, which is fine. The SP SN, threw me off, I thought they were maybe worth more. Will it mount uo to my upper no problem most likely, and if so, what approximately is this thing worth. Is $650.00 too much money. Thanks. |

SP360200 and Below - Pre-Ban
Link It is worth what a preban lower is worth in a ban state, if it is preban, which it is. SP does not mean SP1, it means Sporter eta. Colt made large and small pivot pin uppers and lowers, so check that it is tha same as your upper to be all original. Otherwise you can get adapter pins if that does not bother you. |

The only reason it's worth that much is because it is legal in ban states. For you, yes that's way too much. Have you looked at the Nodak retro lowers? You can get one of them that would probably match pretty well for under $200. |
| Something else to keep in mind- while the OP may not be in a ban state, if he needed to resell it, I'm sure he could get his money back from someone in a ban state. Also if he's waited 15 years for a lower, I don't think he would want to compromise with a nodak |
