Hi, My first post. I have been able to find tons of info and thanks.
I have a piece together AR. Mostly from SAA. I have a RRA bolt carrier group and have fired a few rounds.

They all receive a dent from the ejection post. Not a bad one but something I don't think resizing will remove. My thought is to shorten the spring on the eject pin. Has anyone had this problem? I don't want to file the post round and remove the anodizing.

Normal part of ejection.

Welcome to the board.

Where is the dent at on the casing? If it's on the body of the case, I doubt you'll have a problem reloading it.

I get small dents in mine, too. There's also a good amount of wear on the leading edge of my deflector (sharp edge is rounded and the finish is gone). Just a product of shooting it.

Thanks for the quick replies. I guess I am over analyzing this. It is mid way in the body.

If you ever buy Federal XM193 or XM855, it comes with dents in the case from the factory.

Most of the dents get ironed out when the casing is resized.

If the dents do not come out, stick a small (fuzzy side) patch of velcro onto the brass deflector.

Normal. The dents won't hurt anything.

Heh, that was my first thought too. Lake City ammo comes pre-dented...at no extra charge

Of the rifles in my current collection, my two Sig 556 Patrols are the hardest on brass. Anyone who is familiar with a roller lock HK or CETME rifle would think that my Sig brass came from one of theirs...aside from the caliber of course.

if you are having overly dented casings that you want to reload this method works great.  My sig556 bangs the shit outa my casings and this stops the problem.

My mid-length with a standard carbine buffer would eject brass at 5 o'clock position and put a dent about a 1/4 inch down from the case neck. I switched to a H buffer then brass ejected in the 3-4 o'clock position and the dents stopped happening.

All true.  Small dents are harmless.  But if you don't like them, Velcro or felt stuck to the deflector will cure it.  Of course, you'll have to listen to the usual gung-ho crap about how you're a fairy for using padding on your deflector, but that's par for the course.

Thanks for the input. I ran a batch through the FL die and for the most part the dent was cleared up. But since I like to tweak, I took 2 coils off the ejector spring and ran another 50 rounds at range. About 8 came back with the dent. If I do anything else I will cushion the deflector post as suggested. Probably not. Lets shoot.

As for pictures I need to do some more research on posting.
