Has anyone seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBiNx0QyYyg&feature=related

| What I don't get is this. I'm new to ARs and I already know "Battlecomp" as well as I know "Magpul". Yet I've never heard of a Supercomp or know who makes it. Apparently from this video the Supercomp is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the Battlecomp, yet everyone and their sister has a Battlecomp. Not to mention BCM, one of the best AR companies out there uses Battlecomp. What am I missing here? |

Hmmm...
So the youtube promo shows the price @ $68.50. Interestingly enough, the price posted on the vendor's website (link not provided, but I'm thinking you can figure it out) shows it @ $99. I realize the original vid is almost 1 year old, but a 45% price increase in less than 12 mos? |

I fully understand that these are two different types of muzzle devices, but it's still interesting. Too bad it didn't include a few more popular choices.
I've been around long enough to see a few different devices become flavor of the month/year so it's always entertaining to read people trying to justify their choices $$$. |

the Talon is 99, the No-talon is 68 or so. GoGuns are the only ones that carry the no-talon Nope. GoGuns USA re-directs you to The GasPedal Store, which then lists the SuperComp NoTalon Brakes (both 5.56 and .308) for $99. ETA: This being said, a quick google-fu effort found a webstore that has it for $64.50. I have absolutely no affiliation with this vendor, nor do I have any knowledge about their business practices: External Link to Dawson Precision webstore |

I'm not a scientist, but I can sum this up right now. The BC is not a traditional brake. It's more designed to reduce muzzle rise than recoil. It has not side ports to redirect the blast back. It also works welll to direct sound up instead of out to the side.
The Super Comp is a more traditional brake. redirects gas backwards and reduces recoil. As for the sound... Where they put the DB meter isn't fair. That thing is a long ways away and directly in line with the muzzle. Try putting it 3' away and a foot or two behind the muzzle. I'd put money on the fact that the Super Comp would be louder like that. A brake doesn't make a gun louder, all it does is redirect muzzle blast. The louder that a brake is next to the gun, the more effective it is at redirecting blast. People build brakes and flash hiders for different purposes. Some are to hide flash, some are to reduce recoil and some are to reduce muzzle rise. In my experience the BC is a compromise (that works well). It reduces muzzle rise without redirecting sound out the side or back. It doesn't really reduce recoil (which a 5.56 AR doesn't really need anyway). I've got brakes that work better, but are brutal to be next to. |
"Flash and Blast Not Compared".
Part of what makes the BattleComp so attractive is the lack of blast. If all I cared about was a flat shooting rifle and blast was of no concern, I'd get a Titan, Rolling Thunder, Miculek, PWS DNTC, or JP Recoil Eliminator. Additionally, the BattleComp is not marketed as a competition device. Comparing it to items designed for that role in that role will generally result in the BC coming out on the bottom. Similarly, the GoGun brakes and the above listed comps (except for the BC) are marketed for competitors, mainly for 3-gun and similar games. They aren't intended for CQB use and would not perform well in that role. They are different tools for different jobs. |

Has anyone seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBiNx0QyYyg&feature=related ![]() BAM!!! That was a terrible video. The BC is designed to push back into your shoulder, reducing muzzle climb. All it proved was that the BC does what it is advertised to do.
I would check out the Dynacomp by Spike as well if you're interested in a comp. |

I'd like to see a comparison of the two in low light and shooting double/triple taps. The Battle Comp is still the best all around IMHO based on everything I've seen.
