do you think its a good Ideas to buy an airsoft gun for practices simple drills, forms, etc....i have a M4 type gun that I use to use when I was younger it mimicks all the actions except the bolt catch even has simulated recoil!
what do you guys think? I still paintball a little but airsoft is the closest to the real firearm in actions although weight is not exact its close enough and if practicing outside you can tell your neighbors its a toy gun.... |

Growing up my kids learned firearms safety and discipline starting from nerf guns to airsoft and now real guns. Ar's, Mosins',Mausers', and handguns.
An accident with a foam dart or plastic pellet was not usually lethal. I taught them at a young age that if they ever sweeped anyone with their barrel I'd beat them to an inch of their life. Right now they don't shoot as much as they used to but a knowledge of firearm safety is never wasted. |

To the OP, with all of the .22 AR options out there (Troy kit, M&P15/22, CMMG conversions, etc.) I think it makes wayy less since to get into the Airsoft game.... |
| IMO it is a good tool for muscle memory reinforcement. Just like drawing and dry firing from a holster the AS has its application. It is also good for force on force training, we use em in training and they are great for teaching newbs and youngsters how to stack, move in pairs and fire teams and clear. |

| I think a quality airsoft gun is a worthwhile investment. I've been shopping for a M4 clone to do practice drills with. The good stuff expensive, but the ammo savings and ability to practice in more places (ie backyard) seem to make it ok. Big fan of 22lr conversion kits as well. |

The problem with Airsoft guns is may of them do not actually have a working bolt cat, or if they do it just releases a little side thing that covers the hop-up assembly. If that is good enough for you then go for it.
You can get a G&G series that has this feature for about $175. If you really want a good training aid that is airsoft, look at the Gas Blow Back models. They actually have a full working bolt system. These are more expensive to purchase, especially if you want numerous magazines which have a higher price because they must be pressure rated to store the gas. However, they actually have a recoil impulse, buffer assembly, and properly functional bolt release KWA is by far the best quality KWA USA PTR LM4 Airsoft GBB Rifle WE-Tech Makes the most variants.
