So I have an AR pistol that has a lot of FDE furniture, I can't decide on the charging handle. BCM Mod 4 or the Core 15 FDE Cerakote?

Thoughts?

BCM.... what the hell is the deal with Core15?  The BCM is the best and if the color matters that much get it cerakoted yourself but its going to wear off real quick once you start getting into using that thing.  I am withholding my judgement of colored ARs and I still think BCM is a much better option.

I agree the Gunfighter CH is by far the best out there.

Starting a CH thread is just like starting a trigger thread around here...you're gonna hear BCM or Geissele most often by far.

But yes, BCM is the best out there.

Geiselle makes a charging handle?
No experience with the Core 15 handle, but have a BCM Mod 3 on my "distance" rifle and am very impressed-especially with how it handles off axis holds-no binding.

I have both. I'd take the Core 15.

If they made them in foliage I'd have two.

Structurally the BCM GunFighter is stronger because it does not have that slot at the rear same as the standard CH which the slot opens up when worn.

The new version GF with the makeover have nicer contours and have some gas buster feature.

If you like to match the color then go with the Core 15 FDE CH.

Also, PRI makes a SOCOM anodized M84 gas buster charging handle. The BCM is rock solid, too.

BCM by far... Rather it function better than be color matched...

I have both and they both work fine.

If you want the color to match get the Core 15...it really is a nice CH. The latch is a little bigger then stock.

THe BCM has the enhanced design to take stress off...blah blah blah......I never had an issue with the mil spec CH but I like the latch on my BCM GF CH.

At the most I would go with a BCM small latch mod 5 or maybe a PRI military latch for your existing CH.

If you carry the rifle enough you will see that the extended CH latches are nothing more than a snag hazard.Ive seen the latches hang on chest rigs, jacket, shirt etc. and actually pull the rifle out of battery while moving.Long latches are notorious for this.Plus its just an added contact point to stick out on a basically flat profiled rifle.

If you have optics that interfere with the operation of the CH I'd recommend mounting the optic foward using a mount like ADM Recon or Larue LT104 etc. so as to be able to get a solid purchase on the CH.

I personally prefer, and would recommend a plain ole $25.00 factory standard CH.But thats all my opinion.

I have the BCM on my 20" barreled A3 with the 4-16x scope on it.
The very large latch is pretty much a requirement on that one.
I got the Core 15 when I ordered the BCG/hammer/CH combo (quite a good deal IMHO) and the latch is big enough to reach on an A3 with holosight/magnifier, but not so big that it stabs me in the back if I'm carrying with a 2 point sling like the GF CH does.

Seems to me they are right for different applications, since my other 2 ARs (I know, only 4, jcrowl's got me thinking, though) have standard CHs and I see no reason to upgrade, but then, I'm not an accessory junkie, either.

I have several 20" SPR's setup in the C7A2 configuration that I have 40mm-50mm magnified optics on using the mounts I listed above.

If you use the right mount and position the optic correctly, the CH will not be obstructed by the optic.Good example:

Magnifiers behind a RDS is a oxymoron in my opinion.

Or I can mount my scope the way I like it.

Thanks for weighing in on the magnified RDS, I'll take it under advisement. Or not.

Because the BCM is made for using only the left hand to charge it, I would say you made the best choice especially for an AR pistol.

Ruggedness of GUNFIGHTER is a distinct advantage in ANY tactical situation. GASBUSTER has the edge in competition.Personally I am considering expensive-ass side-chargers and pistons for the best of both on two new builds.
