hey guys, what is the best extractor spring for the AR-15?
I have seen there are alot of springs, but from a few things some seem to say the new colt copper is the best, what do yall think? |

Wolf extra power extractor springs are my favorite for sure. The MGI D-fender is also a good upgrade as well. havent tried the wolf spring, but a big +1 on the D-fender. also using wolff extractor springs with a D-fender in all my rifles, except the 20 in(just the spring minus the D-fender) |

I use this one.

| my backup carbine is a Colt 16" .... a couple of years ago, pulled the bolt apart, and the extractor spring was gone, but the "O" ring allowed it to run like a champ...shooting competition near MacDill AFB gives me some access to people that put together enhanced parts kits for SOCOM |

Just curious, what would be the symptoms of running too much of a spring? I preemptively installed the BCM spring and o-ring in my AR pistol, but have not yet had time to shoot it. The bolt is unable to chamber a round as the extractor has too much pressure and can't jump the rim of the case. |

I'm very satisfied with my BCM CS extractor spring that I use on all my carbine gas systems only.
Back in 2005 I had tried Wolff extra power extractor springs which worked as advertised but it wears quicker than my BCM chrome silicon springs, so I went with BCM. On my other midlength and rifle gas system AR I just use the factory Colt copper colored spring but I added mil-spec Crane O-ring on them. When you get whatever extractor spring that you like, always have some extra spares. http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Extractor-Spring-Uprade-Kit-p/bcm%20extractor%20spring%20upgrade.htm |

I never used to be very particular about which extractor springs I bought till BCM came around. The extra springs kept on hand are BCM. Have had great luck with all their bolt parts and complete BCGs so haven't tried much else for years. Their bolt upgrade has cured issues several times for me as I'm certain the Colt parts would have too.
Only have one 6920 left. It has the copper colored spring. Never have had a problem with that rifle. Couldnt say which springs are better. Both have worked great. If I had an extraction issue with my Colt, I'd probably pop in a BCM spring and extractor simply because I have them. I'm sure there are better out there but no reason to seek them out so far. I would feel just as comfortable using only Colt springs as well. |

I have the Springco spring with the o-ring. I noticed my fired cases had lots of marks around the case head. I called Springco and was told to remove the o-ring. I did and now no more beat up case heads. With Springco and o-ring http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa53/Kodiakco/Firearms/IMG_0708.jpg http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa53/Kodiakco/Firearms/IMG_0706.jpg |
