i own a colt match target (mt6400r) and was looking to make a bunch of upgrades. i wanted a few opinions before i bought anything. here's what i was thinking of so far:
trigger: timney geissele ssa-e (small pin) scope: leupold ar-6 (mil-dot) scope mount: burris ar-p.e.p.r bipod: harris s-brm bipod mount: yankee hill stock: magpul ubr (dark earth) pistol grip: magpul miad (dark earth) rail covers: magpul ladders (dark earth) magazines: magpul p-mag 30 rounds (really a ten round magazine that looks like a ten round magazine) **edit** as per the suggestion of Tremors, i've added the following to my list: sling: magpul ms3 trigger guard: magpul miad i have no idea on the best way to mount the sling, any suggestions? |

Sling-wise, you need to consider the need of single vs. 2-point. I'd take a look at a Blueforce Gear VCAS with tri-glide (if you want quick single to 2-point convertibility), Ares Huskey Amentum or Sheriff of Baghdad. Also, I'd save some extra money and get better scope rings than Burris. Look at LaRue or other equivalent quality. Get good rings. Not a place to skimp. |

Whats to upgrade. IF you really want to UPgrade, go shoot the hell outa it and get 'er down to MOA then IF you need to upgrade you will have all the input you need AND it will not be from psuedoknowitalls like US.

qd sling swivels are a great way to mount i think the ubr probably comes with a qd sling swivel socket and they offer the mounts as an option Consider larue index clips over or combined with the ladder covers nice stuff. He NEEDS QD swivels WHY? I truly get so sick and tired of "Concrete Commando" feedback here I could blow chunks.

NOT to pop your bubble BUT I'd UPgrade it by removing about 3/4 of that YUPPIE bullshit. just Sayin'........ |

I didn't say he needed qd swivels he was asking for a good way to mount a sling and considering magpul stocks include the qd socket it's sort of a no brainer something I think you would readily understand. |

the 6400c is a great carbine, I would not add such a heavy scope or bipod to it.
colt's chrome lined barrels are known for reliability and durability, not match grade accuracy. also, are collapsible stocks legal in NY? because that kills your UBR idea. what do you want to "do" with your AR? define your rifle's purpose, shoot it more, and the "upgrades" will fall into place. |

Upgrading can be a lot of fun, it gives your rifle character and depending what you add on, sets it apart from the rest. I see that majority of your "upgrades" are magpul.. There are WAY better products out there.. Not knocking magpul but when it comes to slings, BUIS, receiver plates, grips front grips, there are better products.. Look into ergo grips and rail covers, Larue index clips, ikickhippes SLAP plate, tacstrap, viking tactical. Those are just a few that out match magpul in that specific area IMO. |
My Colt 6920 with just the minimum upgrades that I need: trigger: factory stock (just fire it several thousand rounds to smooth it out) scope: Aimpoint scope mount: LaRue cantilever QD bipod: (don't need any but I will use my GG&G bipod if I need one) bipod mount: (none required, my bipod mounts directly on the rail) stock: factory M4 pistol grip: factory A2 rail covers: KAC and Magpul XTM magazines: Magpul Pmag 30 rounds sling: Vickers VCAS two point sling and KAC rail mounted QD sling mount trigger guard: factory standard vertical grip: KAC
I use this on my other carbine Daniel Defense Rail Mount QD Swivel Attachment Point https://danieldefense.com/mounts/sling/rail-mount-qd-swivel-attachment-point.html If you get the Magpul MS3 sling get their Magpul RSA® - Rail Sling Attachment. Magpul RSA - Magpul site link +1 Start your upgrade with the simple necessary components first like sling, light, mags and then optic, then upgrade your furniture that fits you better, and last is the bipod if you really always need it all the time. Don't hang heavy components on it, it will weight as much as a boat anchor in no time, keep it as light as possible. You need to post a picture of your carbine when you make your upgrades so we could see it. |
