I got a Wolf XP spring, it measures right at 11 3/4 inch. Isnt that a bit long, according to my info isnt 11 1/4 the max lenth?

I think you're right....that appears to be rifle length.

But it clearly is too long says "the book", but go try it.

it may end up the right length once you put it in and squish it a few times.
I'd stick it in make sure your bolt will hold back on the bolt catch and then go shoot.
